| Posted: | | | | One of my guilty pleasure DVD's (I have many) is the double-sided Midnite Movies release of "Invasion of the Star Creatures" and "Invasion of the Bee Girls". The current entry in the database for this disc (UPC 027616902993) contains both sides of the disc on the "Discs" tab. Cast and crew from both films are combined for the one entry, and I created a contribution that includes dividers to separate the names for each film. This contribution got a "no" vote, saying that the different sides of the disc should have their own entries and be added to the main entry using the "Box Set Contents" tab.
So here's my question: How do I do this? Since both disc ID's are already included in the database's main entry for the UPC number, when I try to add the sides by Disc ID (that is, by Inserted Disc), I get told that the release already exists. It's also not possible to add a new entry by UPC number, since that obviously exists as well. I must be missing something... | | | ob |

| Posted: | | | | just remove the disc-id on the parent profile localy, this lets you create a profile for each disc-id. Then you contribute the newly created profiles by the disc-id. | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. | Posted: | | | | The "no" vote was right, in fact the UPC profile shouldn't even have the disc info on it - that's probably why you're having problems! I'm at work, so this is from memory - apologies if it doesn't work. First things, edit the UPC profile and remove the disc info. Go to Add by Disc and if it still won't let you add then either try searching by title instead (preferable), or untick the "Download from Invelos" box and add it as a manual profile. Then using the Change UPC menu option, make the UPC the Disc ID. Then refresh the profile from the online and this should link up. Do the same for the other side of the disc. Now you should have 3 profiles: one based on UPC and two based on disc ID. Edit the UPC one again and add the disc ID profiles as box set contents. Now you can edit the ID profiles with all the cast and crew for the relevant films.
Hope this helps! |

| Posted: | | | | I tried that, Giga - no luck. Like I said, the disc ID's are saved on the existing entry in the database, so as soon as I try to add either side of the disc, I get told that an entry already exists in the database and I can't continue. | | | ob | | | Last edited: by ottobud |

| Posted: | | | | northbloke, that worked, thanks again. But how do I now contribute the separate manual entries for each side of the double-sided disc? I've added all of the info for the 2 titles, but they appear as "Manual DVD #1" and "...#2", not by disc ID, and cannot be contributed. | | | ob |

| Posted: | | | | You need to change the manual profiles to Disc ID profiles. To do this just put the disc in your DVD Rom and then while on the profile for that side go to DVD --> Change UPC .... there it will allow you to change the profile to the disc ID. | | | Pete |

The protection against entering a Disc ID when it already exists only works when the disc is entered for the first time.
In the case of two movies on a disc this is not really necessary (for the online database), but it helps for child profiles of TV sets, where the parent profile also has complete information. | | | Hans |
