| | Posted: | | | | I recently bought some HD DVD's from Canada, they all have Canadian rating, some of them only English text on the back cover, some of them English and French. Is it right to allocate the pure English ones to the locality Canada while the mixed ones should go to Canada Quebec? I am asking because I saw it with existing profiles the other way around. |

| | Posted: | | | | If I've got it right, then the Canada locality was for the english language version of the profile, and the Quebec locality was for the french language version. So the dual-language discs could in theory have 2 profiles connected to them: one for the english speakers, the other for the french speakers. |

| | Posted: | | | | Don't ask me, but I certainly have no trouble differentiating between Canada and Canada (Quebec). I probably would have gone with Canada (English) and Canada (French) but.... it's not hard Ken's way either.

| | Posted: | | | | anything that is English Typed in full Fonts is English,, even though there is 'some' French text on the front/rear of the jacket or below the Main title..
Any Canadian DVD that is ALL French and little to no English is Quebec French ...
Occasionally the inner jacket can be a combo flip jacket that is all French on the Underneath and All English on the other side..

As I understand it, these are the cinema rating systems used in Canada: BC/Alberta/Manitoba/Saskatchewan: G, PG, 14A, 18A, R, A Ontario: G, PG, 14A, 18A, R Quebec: G, 13, 16, 18 Maritimes: G, PG, 14, 18, XXX, E The rating system for home video, on the other hand, is standardized across the country: G, PG, 14A, 18A, R, E | | | | ob |
