| Posted: | | | | I am trying to resort my list, but when I resort by title there are ALOT of titles that are not coming up correctly. It does well for 'half' of my 572 dvd collection, but the rest are 'out of whack' so to speak...
Example: I just did a renumber of my collection, and I set it to sort by Title. It made Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix as 1, 300 as 2, Lethal Weapon 4 pack as 3, etc.
I've upped my collection for your perusal and assistance. http://www.invelos.com/dvdcollection.aspx/Naloomi
I hope you can help me get this fixed. I just bought a second copy of a movie because the Profiler Mobile wasn't showing me that I owned it (because it was not sorting correctly)

| Posted: | | | | when using numbers only in the sort field you should fill out on the left side with leading zero's. 1000 dvd's = 0001, 0002, 0003, ...., 9999 10000 dvd's = 00001, 00002, 00003, ...., 99999
your online looks OK? 1 to 572, you could perhaps clean your browser cache, if that is the problem? | Posted: | | | | Hi,
I certainly don't know what the problem is but I'll offer some suggestions as to how you might correct it. Everything looks okay after 292 or so. (Not sure about the asterisk)
Just in case you're not aware of this, under the menu "Tools/Options/Utilities" you can select "Repair DVD Profiler Database".
However prior to doing this I would recommend downloading the recently released "Bulk Edit" plugin and installing it. By flagging the first 10 or so profiles and then running BulkEdit on the "Tools" menu you can perhaps identify what's causing the strange sort order.
When you run the program you'll be presented with a choice of data fields you would like to see displayed in a spreadsheet format. I'd suggest just checking "Sort Title" initially.
By selecting "Flagged Profiles" on the "Load" menu you'll see a listing of the Disk IDs in the left most column followed by your selections in the next column. This is simply data extracted from the DVD Profiler database.
You'll be asked if you want to overwrite the sheetdata initially even if there is nothing currently displayed. Just say "Okay" Regardless of what you do with the data displayed by BulkEdit no changes will be made to the DVD Profiler database unless you press "Save validated changes" on the file menu.
Let us know what you find. |

| Posted: | | | | If you sort Naloomis online collection by name a lot of random movies show up before they are in alphabetical order. I remember there being a problem with the sort field of some profiles having bad info, like a space or something, when the conversion of the database was made but I don't remember exactly.

Let us know what you find. Well, I discovered that all the ones that are NOT sorting correctly have NO SORT TITLE as viewed using the Bulk Edit Plugin. Is there a way to add the SORT TITLE to over 200 DVD's in the collection? |

You know what? I just read that one too . It might just be what the OP needs. Actually, it was that plugin that allowed me to find out that my Sort Title field was 'blank'. I'm utilizing it now to edit them as I type this. Naloomi |

| Posted: | | | | Hi,
Glad to hear you're finding BulkEdit helpful. It's a great program, however, it is a Beta version and I've encountered several problems. Fortunately, I've also discovered workarounds for each and also some not so apparent features that I'll share in case others find them helpful.
First, if you choose to display both the "Title" and "Sort Title" you can click on Title to select and then click once more to select for copying and then right click and copy. Next, do the same for Sort Title and you'll have the option to Paste the data.
I don't exactly recall the circumstances but occasionally I ended up with a big red x in the data area and had to restart Profiler before i could use BulkEdit again. I discovered I could avoid this by clearing all the Profile fields previously selected and then reloading the flagged profiles then I could clear the sheet data of everything with no problems.
Don't hesitate to "Save validated data" on the file menu to update the info in Profiler. I've made well over 1700 changes with no problems. Actually I shouldn't say no problems as it seems that if I modified X number of Profiles X-1 would be modified. For example if I modified the "Location" in 165 Profiles I might discover that either the first or last in the group wasn't modified. I can live with that. |

| Posted: | | | | As far as what caused the missing sort titles, since that hasn't been addressed in this thread. Its mostly likely due to a 'bug' that exists in the mobile program.
Basically, if you add a title to your collection from the mobile version and then sync to your desktop, the title will be added with a blank sort title.

| Posted: | | | | Actually, I think I know what 'caused it.
A recent computer theft caused me to lose my dvd collection data. I had it synced to my mobile. After replacing the laptop I restored my collection from my phone. Roughly 'half' of the collection had no information that I noticed, but when I connected to the DVD profiler database it added pics and other information, but apparantly did not update the 'sort name' field.
Ah well, I have fixed them all now. Thank you all for your assistance.
