I'm just going through adding the disc IDs for my HD DVD discs and I've found that the B side of The Matrix is actually a dual-layer DVD containing only special features.
Is this enough to class it as an HD/DVD combo or does the film have to be available on both HD and SD sides to make it a combo disc?

Edit: it's actually all 3 Matrix films.

This came up before and the consensus was that it's only a combo if the Main Feature is on both sides

What if the DVD side is region coded, should the HD DVD still be considered region free?

I suppose it's considered to be a similar situation to having bonus discs with different region codes to the main discs. Until we can record region code on a disc level, we can't record it.

Since the profile isn't considered a combo, no region can be assigned anyway. Like North says, that would need disc-level region marking.

Stuart:

I don't remember EVER seeing that. but that is simply a bizzarre rationale. I know of very few HD DVD Combos that are so setup, but nearly everyone is labeled HD DVD Combo, I only have a couple myself, but I had been tracking them up to the demise oif the HD format.
