| Posted: | | | | not necessarily a contribution question but I just relized my newly purchased seasons of 24 all have a differant release date and the children all have differant dates from there. I beleive the children have the correct release date from the previous release but the parent now has a differant UPC and release date. How can I get an accurate release date on these?
WOW with further investigation I ve learned for instance Season 2 UPC 024543442936 is profiled to be a keepcase with a release of 05/22/07 and the children release 09/09/2003?? |

| Posted: | | | | Is it possible it's because they've simply repackaged the old discs and given the box a new UPC? So the box will have a recent date, but because all the discs are the same as those in the first release the child profiles will have a much older release date? |

| Posted: | | | | I understand that but should I assume the profiles for either are correct or is there a way to tell for sure? |

| Posted: | | | | If you know your boxsets were recently released, then checking a few online shops should verify the date. The older child profiles are more problematic, but if they're consistent and the same as the original parent (if you can find it), then I'd personally take it on trust that they were correct.
Edit: for example, both Amazon and DVD Pacific confirm the dates that you mention for season 2. Both dates, as they have the original release as a separate listing. | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

We are only supposed to catalog ORIGINAL release data for Online purposes, sounds like someone sneaked one past the screeners. The 24 Digipaks were REPACKAGED with thinpak keeps, the users that bought the re-packaged should obviously maintain the information locally but the Online should contain the data for the ORIGINAL release.

| Posted: | | | | Woops, my bad I just looked again and relized only the parent profile is differant all the children ARE from the original release. So Skip what your saying is according to the rules the release dates should match? this is true even if the disc id's are differant? Quoting skipnet50: Quote: Mike:

| Posted: | | | | Not IF the Disc Ids are different, Mike. That would setup a whole NEW profile for the re-release data.

| Posted: | | | | While I have a different UPC # for Season 2 perhaps my Disc IDs are the same as yours. BE42C29C9A4314A1 [24_SEASON2_DISC1] B1FA9DB82AFA4066 [24_SEASON2_DISC2] 8342011FBADE2759 [24_SEASON2_DISC3] 0BD9CB0E90BC934C [24_SEASON2_DISC4] 8E79718F813B82DA [24_SEASON2_DISC5] AED1E232067912B4 [24_SEASON2_DISC6]
Child profiles are setup for these Disc IDs with a CORRECT 9/9/2003 release date

| Posted: | | | | I think that except for the new Special Edition of Season 1, the re-releases of seasons of 24 have the same discs just repackaged in THINpaks instead of digipaks. The Season 1 SE has totally redone discs with new discids and all. So even though the re-releases now have nice, descriptive covers for the individual THINpaks, we can't contribute 'em -- and have to maintain case type data locally -- then get dinged every update because our local data doesn't match the online data. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? | Posted: | | | | Yeah it looks like those are the same child id's I have and the parent UPC is 024543442936 which according to the database was released 5/22/07. Should this be changed to 9/9/03 like the children?
Out of curiosity are yours thinpaks or digipack? Mine are thinpaks. |

| Posted: | | | | Digipaks, the Original release for Season 2, Mike. So the Cover Art for your children will have to be kept locally. I THINK 5/22/2007 sounds about right for the Tin Pak re-release.

However the discs inside were first released in 2003, so their release date is older than the boxset's. Edit: however, if I'm reading the descriptions right, it sounds like the case type is wrong. | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

It's the same on paper, plain Surround audio and 1.78:1 video, although I've not compared the quality at all. If you're considering the SE set, the extras alone really are worth it. Certainly better than Sutherland's "preview" from the first set. "Um, yeah. Next season. Um, well, there'll be more stuff. Probably some boom, and a lot of bang. Watch the damned thing!" |

Certainly better than Sutherland's "preview" from the first set. "Um, yeah. Next season. Um, well, there'll be more stuff. Probably some boom, and a lot of bang. Watch the damned thing!" While I haven't had a chance to watch the SE episodes yet, I was encouraged to double dip based on the DVD Talk Review by Preston James. Quote: The biggest upgrade between this “special edition” and the 2002 edition is in the supplements, but there are tweaks in other areas as well (thanks for adding in chapter breaks, Fox!), most notably the packaging. The original release didn't have any chapter stops within the episodes. So it was nearly impossible to go to particular parts of the episode. More from the DVD Talk Review: Quote: One of the trademarks of 24 season sets is the almost overwhelming amount of supplemental material and the lack of any substantial bonus features set the original, 2002 edition apart from subsequent seasons – and not in a good way. Fortunately, Fox has rectified that oversight with this new “special edition,” including a seventh bonus disc of supplements not found in the initial release. While the execution isn’t quite as flashy as in later sets – the deleted scenes/alternate takes aren’t integrated into episodes, for example – the material’s here and easily available, so that should count for something. So I had no hesitation about double-dipping for Season 1 -- especially when I got it for $16 or so from Best Buy. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges.
