Since yesterday, I noticed the website is slower. It's most noticable using the forums. Especially replying to forum topics. I have a delay of 1 to 2 seconds for the characters to appear.

Config is Windows Vista with SP1 and Internet Explorer 8.

The problem of the character delay isn't present in Firefox 3.

Then it's problaby time to re-install my PC from scratch. Although for the moment Firefox is still a usable workaround.

Thanks for the feedback ...

I activated the "Emulate IE7" mode in Internet Explorer 8. Everything is working fine now.

There must be some change to the Invelos website, because it was working fine until the day before yesterday. But hey, that was a monday....

Hmm no broad changes that would affect multiple pages were made.  I'll get IE8 installed on a test machine soon to see if I can reproduce.

Probably M$ had some patch installed?
Since you're using the beta-version you should report this to M$ too.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Ken,

I think goblinsdoitall is right. I remember seeing a hotfix being installed for IE8 very recently.
So for now I use the "Emulate IE7" option, and it works like a charm.
I am currently at build 8.0.6001.17184. I don't know if that includes the KB951804 hotfix.

See if I can download it. I'll report back later.

EDIT: the hotfix didn't apply to my system. I filed a bugreport at Microsoft Beta Central.

Open DNS <google this> offers a FREE speed up! Very simple + nothing to download or install. Try the following:

1. control panel

2. dbl click Network Connections

3. R-click 'Local Area Connection' choose properties

4 Highlight 'internet protocol (TCP/IP) choose properties

5. Select 'Use the following DNS server addresses' <note> the other choice is 'Obtain DNS server  addresses automatically:

With "Use the following DNS server addresses" selected enter the following values

for preferred DNS server 208.67.222.222
for alternate DNS server 208.67.220.220

6. Hit OK <couple of times> close control panel. Now go surf, you should see an amazing increase in speed.

Note - If you don't see an improvement then your ISP's DNS is very fast, most likely though you will see a good improvement.

Don't like this tip want to go back to the way it was, repeat the steps & at #5 select "Obtain DNS server address automatically" Ok Ok. Done

Not an option for me to change the DNS settings, since it's a laptop I use both at work and at home. If I start using external DNS'es I don't have name resolution of the company servers, but thanks for the tip anyway.
