Since june the new update for all models is available.

LINK FOR EP-30 and EP 35

Link for HD-E1, HD-XE1 and HD-EP-10

Version of the Update: 3.003

I applied the update and everything seems to work fine, except that I had to unplug the player after the update.

Please tell me if you had to do the same thing.

I live in the US and I received my update on CD a few weeks ago.  I did not have to unplug the player after applied the update.  However, when I turned the player on the first time after the update, I did not get the HD DVD graphics.  But after that time, everything is back to normal.

I believe these updates are now also available for all the US models.

In retrospect I had to turn the player off and on again 3 times until it worked correctly.

I updated mine (HD-A2 [D2 actually, but it's the same difference]) tonight and it went just fine.

Really. First time I rebooted it now I had had "System Error" on the screen. Then I unplugged it. After that it loaded the movie but still wouldn't play it. Then after the next time it finally worked again.

That's weird.  My update was fine and I even watched Blade Runner latter that night.  Anyway, it sounds like your problems went away.  So that's good.  Hopefully they'll stay away.

Yep. After turning it on and off again for a few times everything seems to be ok.

I'm more into Blu-ray these days, but I still have more HD DVDs than Blu-rays and that would suck if my player died.  Glad to hear you got it working.

Me too. I have the Samsung BD-P 1400. The last firmware update came out in January. Would be nice if there'd be a new one.
Still, I have over 100 HD-DVD's and am still watching them. I have the Blu Ray Player for about a month now and already have over 30 BD's..
I still very much enjoy my HD-DVD Movies though.
