| Posted: | | | | Hi everyone. I have a question. I added "Psycho Cheerleaders" four times and everytime it godt declined. I did my best with it, but still it wasen't okay. So the last time it got declined, I withdraw it. So my question is this: Can I still continue with contributions or is is not okay? Best regards from dkgirl. |

| Posted: | | | | Hi... it is fine to contribute... but you must be sure your contribution follows the RULES for the online database... and be sure you source all the information that you add. What was the reasons listed for the declines? there is usually a reason. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | First - Welcome to DVD heaven... As Pete says, you have to familiarise yourself with the Contribution Rules before contributing. The most common "newbie" errors are to take info from third party databases (like IMDB) instead of verifying the Crew/Cast from the actual Film's credits, and taking info from the DVD cover instead of verifying it from the DVD itself (running time, subtitles and audio are very often printed wrong on the cover). It is also important that you explain where you got the information from in your contribution notes.. Hope this helps.... Keep on rockin'.. | | | Berak

| Posted: | | | | Like the others said, just make sure you follow the rules and if you have any questions, let us know. I've been contributing about 4 years (including the old program) now and I still have the occasional question or I even sometimes double check myself with the rules, just to be on the safe side. Just don't be afraid to ask us for help. | | | We're on a mission from God.

| Posted: | | | | Hi all. Thanks for you're responses I have read the rules for contribution. Here is the reason for my contribution got declined: "Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions." And I got the whole cast members and crew. So I really don't understand it, because some of the others contributions i have addded where all right. |

| Posted: | | | | Did the cast and crew come from the DVD itself? If they did, when you submit you contribution just mention they came from the movie credits. Now if they came from a 3rd party source like IMDB, those cannot be contributed. Did anyone vote for your contributions? If someone did, I usually look at the no votes and try to figure out how I can fix it and re-submit. | | | We're on a mission from God.

| Posted: | | | | OK... Apparently you are not sourcing your information in your contribution notes. You need to tell Invelos where you got all the information. Here is an example of one of my recent contribution notes... The Dead Zone: The Final Season:Quote: - Running Time corrected by adding all episodes together... verified with PowerDVD - Removed Scene Access... there is no menu option for scenes within Feature (episodes) - Added Boxset Content - Cast list taken from credits... in order of credits... within episode dividers as per Rules Notice I put exactly where I got the information from... and what I used to verify the information. Also... are you adding uncredited cast?... if so you must source each and every uncredited cast member... giving the information on how you found them... and sources that the voters and screeners can look at to verify that information. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Reinforcing what Pete said about (uncredited) data, sourcing does not mean using IMDb or any other third party source, it largely means providing specifics as to where the (uncredited) can be found, like a time stamp.
My best advice to you as a newbie is to proceed very slowly, don't try and bite off huge chunks at one time. There are also those of us who will try and assist you if ask, either in the forums or via PM.

| Posted: | | | | What the others said... I, personally, haven't been contributing at all lately because - especially with cast and crew - it can be a bit time consuming and I have been very occupied elsewhere.
Yes, we need to pause/play the movie and write down the cast/crew from the credits. That's the only way we can make a reliable and as-per-rules contribution. IMDb or any other third party information source simply cannot be trusted in many cases. And as Pete said, uncredited cast can be listed but the screeners need to see the source you have used for your verification that the people you list really are there. | | | Mika I hate people who love me, and they hate me. | Posted: | | | | If indeed - as you're supposed to do - you have taken your cast and crew credits from the actual film's credits themselves rather than some external source, then probably your problems have more to do with your contribution NOTES than with your contribution itself. Knowing how to write contribution notes is increasingly becoming equally important as knowing what to contribute when it comes to getting your contributions accepted. Here's an example of contribution notes I submitted for a recent new contribution that was accepted without problems. New contribution: child profile. Almost all data from disc. Cast and Crew for the first film from the opening and end credits. Role names collected from http://movies.nytimes.com/; http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/ and IMDb. Second film contains no credits. Running time, video format and audio track verified using PowerDVD. Region and layer info verified using DVDInfoPro. Release date from parent profile UPC 826831070124. As long as you're relatively unexperienced in this game, I'd recommend not submitting uncredited cast. Just enter what you see on screen in the film's credits. Wish you good luck and please feel free to come back in case of any further difficulties. | | | Last edited: by dee1959jay |
