| Posted: | | | | I'm a 'newbie' re DVD Profiler. I've read thru Help several times but can't find information to help with my objectives. I have a huge DVD collection (mostly self recorded from TV channels like TCM, etc.). The collection is quite ecclectic, e.g.movies, concerts, different sports, biographies, documentaries, etc. My objective is to set these up so I can subsequently retrieve/report by Category or in total.
It seems there's a Tag feature available that may be the way I could accomplish my objective. Unfortunately I can't find any information in Help as to how to use this feature or it's capabilities/restrictions.
I would greatly appreciate some help. Thank you. |

| Posted: | | | | Your absolute best bet is to simply play with the program. Add a few titles and mess around with tags and filters and see what you can do. They're both available in the Tags and the Filters tabs. That said, the Wiki has an article on tags: DVDProfilerWiki.org's article on tagsKM | | | Tags, tags, bo bags, banana fana fo fags, mi my mo mags, TAGS! Dolly's not alone. You can also clone profiles. You've got questions? You've got answers? Take the DVD Profiler Wiki for a spin. |

| Posted: | | | | I just clicked on the wiki link and it did not work, so here is a little information that should get you started: This thread on tags has a lot of ideas you can look at for how many of us are using tags. The menu for creating Tags is Tools/Edit Tags... and in the popup window you can add or delete them. Play with it a little and you will quickly figure out what you want to do with them. After you create tags they have to be set for each profile. If you don't have the Set Tags tab(window) showing, pressing Ctrl-T will bring it up. All of your newly created tags will show, but none of the boxes will be checked. To set (or unset) a tag, simply click on the box for the appropriate tag for the selected profile. You can use Flags to set the tags of several (or even all) titles at the same time, to save you some time in getting all of your tags set. To Flag, pressing the space bar when the Collection List has the focus will Flag the currently highlighted title and move the selection down to the next title. Works well if you have several titles in a row that will get the same Tags set. Another way is to click in the checkbox next to the title in the collection list for each profile you want to tag as a group. After Flagging, use the menu Collection/Flagged/Edit Tags (this should be called Set Tags) will bring up the Tag list and you can tick the tags that are common to the set of profiles you've Flagged. I may be confusing in my short instructions, so if you have any questions on creating tags feel free to ask. Hope that helps. | | | Kevin |
