I have the Hellraiser Lament Configuration box set and the Phantasm 5 DVD Box Set - both were released as digipacks and as custom cases, but with the same discs, on the same day.

When adding the child profiles by disc ID, the Hellraiser discs come out as a digipack and the Phantasms as a custom case.

Is there a 'right' case type?

Did you check if the different packages have different UPC? If so download the correct UPC for your items and see if the disc-id's match. If not change the disc-id's. From the DVD Profiler menu:
DVD: edit
from the left hand select discs

I think the parent profile for each set can have the correct case type (if I remember rightly they were given their own EAN codes). However for the child profiles, unfortunately I can't think of any way round it - all I can say is, as long as the case type matches the cover scan, leave it as is.
Actually, you may find for the Phantasm films that they have their own cover scans and case types anyway as these films were released individually first before the same discs were re-released together in the boxset.

The Hellraiser Lament Configuration box set and digipak set were released on the same day, and they have the same exact disc content for all the discs...just different packaging.

The same thing happened with the Phantasm Sphere set and digipak set.

There really is no correct way to list the case types in the child profiles since either is technically correct. I'd think "custom" would be the most accurate option right now, but that's just my opinion.

They do have different EANs and cover scans, it's just the child profiles with identical disc IDs and release dates that I was asking about.  There doesn't appear to be a right or wrong answer - if I submit with 'custom' then the people with digipacks will vote no and vice-versa. I'll just leave it in my local.
