Is there a plan / support for Web Services?  We have two pcs in our house, but they're not as accessible as the Mac in the living room.  Want to see if there's a plan (or if it already exists) for Web Services for the DVD Profiler Database.

Thanks,
Ben

It's an XML like interface that *mostly* supports any kind of coding.  Google has support for it.  Essentially you make programing like calls from a client up to the server.  Take a look at wikipedia's definition:

I think, Giga Wizard wants to know what you want to do with it.

There is an interface between the program and the server but it's not public and I don't think any of its function would be any use to you.

The question remains of what you wish to accomplish, mayber there's already an add-on of any kind (plugin, php, ...) for it.

Ah,

Really I'm thinking about trying to make a Profiler Lite for the Mac.  Add a dvd, look at dvds, and that's it.  I'm really just too lazy to walk upstairs and add 10 new dvds on my PC upstairs if it's possible to figure out a way to add it via the mac (also -- we have an "older" iMac that's based off the powerPC chip -- so we can't run wine/darwine correctly to run dvd profiler on it).  I've recently started working with Web Services at work with Java/Tcl/Perl and thought it would be a great place to have that technology.

Bennid:

The one caution i would offer you is that you don't own DVDProfiler, so any attempt to develop a Profiler Lite for the Mac based on Profiler would likely run smack into a Copyright issue..

Check out different types of remote desktop apps which will allow you to remotely access your pc upstairs from your mac.

Yeah... Profiler "Lite" wasn't really anything I'd definitely use...  Thought if there were web services, it would be cool to come up with something easy to use with the Mac.
