| Posted: | | | | Someone submitted a contribution that adds "Stanley Kubrick Production" (singular) to the studios. But isn't that just to mean that Kubrick was the producer, not a studio? I haven't checked the credits myself yet (I am going to), but in the meanwhile here I find a trascription of the studio credits http://www.eofftv.com/d/drs/dr_strangelove_main.htm Quote: Columbia Pictures Corporation presents a Stanley Kubrick production (opening credits) Made at Shepperton Studios, England by Hawk Films Ltd. | Posted: | | | | A Stanley Kubrick Production does not equate with Stanley Kubrick Productions, the existing data is correct. Kubrick never had a Production company of hiw own.

Columbia Pictures Shepperton Studios Hawk Films I don't think we should list Shepperton Studios. They are credited to be "made at" which I understand that Hawk Films has only used (rented) their facilities. |

You are correct. Shepperton Studios was an actual film studio, not a production company. I say 'was' because they were purchased by Pinewood Studios in 2001. According to Wikipedia, Pinewood Shepperton has 41 stages, including ten digital television studios, audio post facilities, preview theatres, backlots, gardens & woodland for outdoor shooting, one of Europe’s largest exterior water tanks, and a dedicated underwater stage. The seem, except for the amusement park, to be similar in scope to Universal Studios...which also rents out it's studio space to many different film and tv production companies. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. The CORRECT Studio set is
Columbia Pictures Hawk Films Columbia TriStar HE of HV depending on which release you have. Note this is region 1 release data, other Regions MAY list other Distributors.
But that is all the production information. Made at Shepperton Studios has absolutely no significance, you will see similar credits in many many Hollywood films, for example filmed at Desilu Studios, Sound Recorded at Skywalker ranch, etc. It is a way of teling the viewer where the film was shot and also saying thank you to those that helped. Most every one of the James Bond films have been shot at Shepperton, they had some of the largest sound stages in the entire world, 2001 was shot at Shepperton, in fact all of the sets and blueprints for 2001 were also stored at Shepperton and were destroyed in a major fire about 20 or 30 years ago. They re-created Discovery for 2010 based on screen shots from 2001, since everything had been destroyed...but that's another story.

Right you are, Unicus. But "cross-pollination" has always been popular in Hollywood, how many times does New York have to be built to make a film Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!!
