This is a 5th grade math problem.  It's not a trick question.  And don't say that "a bus has no legs", and there is no driver on the bus (so don't include him/her).

Read carefully:

There are 7 girls on a bus.
Each girl has 7 backpacks.
In each backpack there are 7 big cats.
For every big cat there are 7 little cats.
Question: How many legs are there in the bus??

where's the problem, unless I'm misreading it totally it should be 10990 legs

7 girls
343 big cats
2401 little cats

->

7*2+343*4+2401*4= 10990 legs

The answer is 11,970?!

Edit: 10990 seems to be correct

We have a winner.  10,990 is indeed the answer.

thanks for the two positives I got on this

seriously though, what exactly was your point? That this one is too hard for a 5th grader? It might be, but it heavily depends on the kind of math education they got within the first four years.
