| Posted: | | | | A change has been submitted for Ghost in the Shell: Special Edition 5-022366-201346 UK . Among other things, the contribution would change the film editor from Shuichi Kakesu: Film Editorto Shuuichi Kakesu [Shuichi Kakesu]: Film EditorOnly problem, "Shuuichi Kakesu" is NOT the most frequent credited name according to the Credit Look-up Tool: only 1 profile, vs. 79 titles and 162 profiles with "Shuichi Kakesu". Hmm.... I would say "Shuuichi Kakesu" can't be the Common Name, thus a NO vote, sorry. But all the others are voting YES. Am I missing something? What do you think? Here's the reason given by the contributor in the contribution note: Quote: *Updated Notes* Corrected crew Japanese names using the proposal in this thread (http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=37141). Added Japanese Cast with uncredited flag.
Notes1: ???? [???.?????] Kakesu Shuuishi (modified Hepburn waapuro variation spelling) - appears as Shuuishi Kakesu / Syuichi Kakesu / Shuichi Kakesu in the database. So using the rules proposed in the thread indicated above, I've changed to Shuuichi Kakesu with 'Credited As Shuichi Kakesu'. The name was in the official page indicated bellow. **[edit: The kanji/hiragana got turned to ????. You can see his name in this link in Japanese (kanji / hiragana). It's in the top left next to the green strip]
Notes2: This film is a Japanese Anime. The distributor (Manga video) replaced the original Japanese language credits with English language credits omiting the original Japa

| Posted: | | | | ???? ???????? this would mean each user has to translate this in to the proposal. That is not possible for me. This also changes the from the credits rule. Western info has to come from the western credits on that dvd. How are you ever to verify what is going on in the credits. Your no votes stands as this is only a proposal. The English credits are available on that dvd: Shuichi Kakesu see post above. | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. | Posted: | | | | I'd agree with that "no" vote - what's in that thread is a proposal only, it's not part of the rules. So unless the submitter can show that 40 of those titles are incorrectly credited it doesn't override the CLT. |

| Posted: | | | | I agree that his japanese name should be romanized to Shuuichi Kakesu.
But there seems to be too many movies out there with the wrong spelling. So the most common name should unfortunately stay Shuichi Kakesu
You were right to vote NO on this one |

| Posted: | | | | Romanization of Japaneseas you notice the system does not support this at all: look at the above link how it should be. Example words written in each romanization system English Japanese Kana spelling Romanization Revised Hepburn Kunrei-shiki Nihon-shiki Roman characters ???? ???? romaji rômazi rômazi Mount Fuji ??? ???? Fujisan Huzisan Huzisan tea ?? ??? ocha otya otya governor ?? ?? chiji tizi tizi to shrink ?? ??? chijimu tizimu tidimu to continue ?? ??? tsuzuku tuzuku tuduku | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. This part from the wiki page is particualy interesting for Shuichi Kakesu Quote: Long vowels The most common variant romanization is to omit the macrons or circumflexes used to indicate a long vowel. This is extremely common in the romanized version of Japanese words used in English. For example the capital city of Japan, correctly written Tokyo in romanized Japanese, is universally written as Tokyo. In Japan, since romanized Japanese is seen mostly as a convenience for foreigners to be able to read signs easily, macrons and circumflexes are usually omitted for simplification.
So the romanized Shuuichi seems to be often simplified with the removing of the long vowel "uu" to a single "u". |
