I was just looking at the credits for The One (Australian Superbit profile - 9317731018480) and noticed that the cast credit for this actress didn't match.  Looking around, it turns out she is both a pornstar and an actress in mainstream films.  I figured considering the scope of her work, and to allow others to address the common name issue in other profiles, I'd bring this one to the forums.

In The One she is credited as Kimberly Patton (the current profile has her listed as Kim McKamy, as per IMDb... and much of the other cast data appears to have come from there too!).

The whole issue of Common Name for porn actors is a murky area, since those performers frequently work under many different names during their "careers."  That and the production companies are not known for paying much attention to consistency in spelling actor/actresses names. That is one reason I don't contribute any adult titles:  I use the common name concept in my local database to be the name by which I commonly recognize the performers.  So the name I use may not relate in ANY way to what appears in the CLT.

There are a few other porn actors and actresses who have done legit films.  Ginger Lynn (Allen) is probably the most successful (and I use that term advisedly) perfomer to have worked both in Adult and legit films.  Traci Lords has, too, but she's a special case since once outed as an underage porn actress, she never went back to her old ways.  Ginger Lynn has.  A few others: Jenna Jameson is trying to work both sides of the street; and Kim Carson who was in H.O.T.S. as Kimberly Cameron.  I must admit I have seen more actors from porn in theatrical films than actresses, which seems odd and maaybe sexist.

Be careful what you ask for.  You like screenshots but in this case we might get some that will cause a few spit takes in the community.   

They don't bother me. Tweeter I am not a prude. I want to know that they are they are the same person. It's bad enough when people make that assumption just because the names are similar. Of course if it is that big a concern the names could be left As Credited, or perhaps any name that might cause spit takes, assuming using screen shots.

Thanks skip (for the link and the compliment).  I've already been there (and I can add that her "official site" isn't of any help).  I didn't set the fan site up as a link in the opening post, because I didn't want people accidentally going to it, even though it seems the most comprehensive and reliable.

And "legit" takes fewer keystrokes than "non-Adult" or "non-Porno" or whatever.

IMHO Ashlyn Gere was one of the few performers in adult films who know how to act in addition to being able/willing to "perform."  I way "was" because I haven't seen her in many recent releases.

BTW:  According to the Internet Adult Film Database (IAFD, the IMDb for the porno set) Ashlyn Gere worked between 1990-2003 (a fairly long career as porno performers go) starting when she was about 31 (rather old as porno actresses go) and used the following names:
