| Posted: | | | | Im sure this has come up before, but I'm currently working through full acst and crew for Eureka season 1, and I'm trying to work out how to parse the writing credits:
Created by: Andrew Cosby and Jamie Paglia (these two also get "written by" in the previous episodes, but not this one) Teleplay by: John Rogers Story by: Karl Schaefer
So, who should get credited, and for what?
My first guess is OMB for Schaefer, screenwriter for Rogers, and maybe OCB for Cosby and Paglia, but I'm really not sure...
Thanks for your help. |

Yes, created by => OCB, teleplay => screenwriter, story by => OMB Not everyone agrees that Created by is OCB, but for the time being I consider this to be the best option as well. | | | Berak

| Posted: | | | | We have asked for a "Created By" credit in DVDP, but for now, it is not OCB nor OMB.
OCB means that the film/TV Series is based on a character(s) from a previous work, such as the Perry Mason TV series being based on a character created by Erle Stanley Gardner.
Obviously, characters in a TV show are repeated in subsequent seasons. That doesn't mean the person that wrote the stories for season one should get a "OCB" credit in season two.
By forcing non-matching credits into DVDP, we are making the data less useful because the credit really does not mean what it says anymore. We are giving people credits for things they did not actually do (like composer for someone who wrote a theme song). We are putting people who actually did the job on the same plane as those who did not do the same job. The data will eventually be meaningless if we continue down this path. | | | Hal |
