So, I'm going through my collection since I have a little time tonight and adding disc ids to ones that don't have them at all.  Came across one that is already in the database, but not for the edition that I have.  I have the US region 1 version of the Stepford Wives.  The disc id comes up for The Stepford Wives Special Collector's Edition, for Quebec, I believe.

My question is, since it's already assigned to another edition, can I add and contribute it for mine?  Or is it like UPCs...once it's assigned to one particular dvd, you can't add it to another?  Checked the rules, but it doesn't mention this...

Thanks for the help.

Don't think there will be a problem to add it it to more than one profile. Actually, I have done this when I added Disc ID profiles for movies that already have a UPC profile with them and that disc id as there disc.

You wouldn't be able to reuse the disc ID if that is what the is being used for the unique identifier (ie, profiles with no UPC so done by Disc ID). only exception is that if the locality is different, it would be allowed because the unique identifier is the combination of UPC/Locality (or DiscID/locality if disc id is used instead of UPC)

They both do have UPCs, and the UPCs are different...first thing I checked as I had already run into problems with that.

Just ad your Disc-id to the UPC you have for your locality, as the otherone is in Canada you should not have any problems. While you're at it check if the profile needs any other changes as this would help to get that disc-id in to the online DB.
If there is already antoher Disc-Id and nothing to add in that profile. Explain that Disc-Id in question is not in the online DB for this release and you want it available for other users to recognise this profile.
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.
