I believe I already know the answer to this, but thought I should ask just to be sure.

The anime series 'The Third: The Girl with the Blue Eye' has all of it's credits in Kanji (I think) which I cannot read.  For my local db I used the official english site for the show and Anime News Network to fill in cast and crew as much as possible.

Am I correct in thinking that this shouldn't be contributed?  I think the chances of someone who can read Kanji coming along and translating the credits and then contributing them is pretty slim. So is this an exception to the rule?

Thanks

You could contribute this profile and you have two possibilities:
1. Contribute as a partial contribution without cast and crew data
2. Contribute with all data available and give the "Official English Site" as source and explain in the notes why the data wasn't taken from the DVD credits. It's kind of an exception to the rule but since we accept "other sources" then the DVD for additions to existing profiles there should be no problem here.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I agree with this.  If you explain what you did and why, you shouldn't have a problem.  Your other option is to PM Gerri and see what she thinks.

Ah, that's a good idea.  Thanks folks.

I'll PM Gerri first just to be safe...

Please let us know, with Gerri's permission of course, how this turns out.  It would be good information for future reference.

Assuming this is the R1 Nozomi (RightStuf)/Kadokawa Pictures USA release, does it not have an English credit scroll at the end of the disc (i.e. after the last episode)? That's what RightStuf usually do on their releases.

If so, you could use that, although it won't break it down on a per-episode basis.

It is the R1 release.  I'll have to take a look and see what's there.  Thanks for the info.

Edit: You were absolutely right! At the very end , after the credits and the "Next time on The Third..." is the english credit crawl.  I always skip that Next time bit to avoid spoilers...  <Facepalm>

Thanks again
