I'm getting an error message "Can't allocate the DIB handle" when I attempt to load a recently scanned cover image.

This is the first time I've attempted to scan a DVD cover and submit it.

I did a SEARCH within the forums for DIB and DIB Handle, but did not find any reference to this problem.

STEPS:

Scanned a front and back cover for a DVD that you have in the database but do not have covers images.

Opened DVD Profiler and logged in to Forums.

In DVD Profiler, clicked on DVD from top menu, then clicked on Edit Cover Images.  This opens a new window for Edit Cover Images.

Within the Edit Cover Images window, clicked on FILE and then clicked on OPEN.  This opens a new window named OPEN.  Selected the front cover image (.jpeg).  The thumbnail of the image loaded.

Here's where the problem occurs.  When I click on the OPEN button within the OPEN window, I receive the error message "Can't allocate the DIB handle."

What does this error mean, and how do I fix it?

Thanks.

I don't know what the problem is but try copying and pasting the image in instead.

Thanks Srehtims, Telecine, and Giga Wizard.  I've now uploaded the DVD cover scans for "Escanaba in da Moonlight" and they're pending evaluation.

Here's some additional information that may be of help to someone encountering the same problem.

I installed DVD Profiler on a second computer and duplicated the "Can't allocate the DIB handle" problem there.  So the problem does not appear to be related to the computer DVD profiler runs on.

The original scans were at a high quality, and thus the files were comparatively large.  I created a second set of scans at a much lower image quality.  These smaller files did not generate the error message when I attempted to "Edit Cover Images."

The contributor notes show that there was a previous submission of cover scans for "Escanaba in da Moonlight," but the contribution was rejected.  I'm not sure why it was rejected.

For those who aren't familiar with "Escanaba in da Moonlight," it's a comedy written/directed/starring Jeff Daniels about deer hunting in Michigan's upper peninsula.

the other Contribution says:
cover scans from dvd empire
The cover scan should come from the dvd cover itself and not a 3th party source.
Your contribution looks OK as does your contribution note

Thanks again Giga Wizard.  The step-by-step walkthroughs are a big help.

I still don't understand the "Can't allocate the DIB handle" error message, but at least I understand now how to work around it.
