| Posted: | | | | Is there a way to add a DVD that has no UPC code, and that is not already listed in the database?
I purchased a short documentary film on DVD called The Quilts of Gee's Bend at the art museum. I went to add it to my collection, but can't figure out how to do it since it has no UPC. It's not a bootleg or anything, it just doesn't have a UPC code. I can't add it by inserted disc, because I do not have a DVD-rom drive.
This is the IMDB link for the film - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0476712/
Any suggestions? | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

| Posted: | | | | The reason for this is is because we deal with legitimate DVDs which are available for purchase. You can put any title you wish in your local database manually as Telecine outline. A check of several sources does not indicate that this title has ever been released for sale by anyone, at least not in Region 1. So it will have to be a manual entry.

| Posted: | | | | As I mentioned in a different thread.... There are a lot of DVDs that do not have UPCs or UPCs in a different format. I do not submit them to the on-line db even if the DVD Profiler program accepts the UPC. They do show up on my on-line db copy. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. Skip But it is available for purchase legitimately. I purchased it at the gift shop in the art museum here in Louisville, where the quilts have been showing. It was released by Tinwood Media. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

| Posted: | | | | That assumes that it is a store bought DVD. Whichi do not, especially in view of the fact that I can find no information on a release. Part Two, Giga, read the Rules.

| Posted: | | | | Quite a few DVDs distributed by PBS and/or cable channels like Discovery or Animal Planet don't have UPCs. I guess this is because the DVDs aren't intended for sale through commercial channels like Best Buy or Circuit City. I had this problem when I bought the first two seasons of Meerkat Manor directly from Animal Planet. But NOW you can buy them at Best Buy -- and they not only HAVE a UPC, they come in space saving SlipPAKs instead of the standard keep cases I got. I think the program material is the same, or I'd consider double dipping. I'd second the suggestion that you get a DVD ROM drive. I got one at Circuit City that's a USB version DVD Burner, made by LG, that works better than my internal DVD ROM reading drive -- and cost less than $100. It was well worth it -- and would play a couple of DVDs that my internal drive wouldn't even recognize. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges.
