| Posted: | | | | I'd would be nice if every thread created in the "Feature Request" forum could get a poll attached.
Something like
5 (can't live without it) 4 3 (would be nice) 2 1 (couldn't care less)
For you - Ken and Gerri - it would be a good indicator of how the community feels about a FR.
It's far easier to vote on something than just to write another post á la "great idea, like it".
And if it would be standardized, not everyone would create different poll options or forget to create a poll at all. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | While the basic idea is good, I think it would create a problem when the "requester" haven't thought through the request, resulting in a debate that might end up in a completely different solution to the problem at hand.
So, what do you vote for? The original request or the solution the discussions ends with? | | | The future is here. It's just not widely distributed yet. (William Gibson) |

| Posted: | | | | And what happens if you want to do your own poll?
I say if you're too lazy to start a poll, then you just don't get one. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. Create fake parent profiles to organize your collection. |

So, what do you vote for? The original request or the solution the discussions ends with? I think Rander has a point here, still the mandatory poll seems like a good idea, provided the requester takes care of "his/her" poll. Possibly the option "Other (Please Explain)" is missing, which then would indicate that there is a discussion about the request. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I think Rander has a point here, still the mandatory poll seems like a good idea, provided the requester takes care of "his/her" poll. Possibly the option "Other (Please Explain)" is missing, which then would indicate that there is a discussion about the request. I agree with these sentiments. The automatic poll could be a good idea, but there are a number of threads in "Feature Requests" which were poorly worded and didn't really say what the requester intended (based on where the threads went and what the OP said later in the thread. Still, the idea has merit. But I also agree that there should be the "Other (Please Explain)" option, just to encourage discussion if for no other reason. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? | Posted: | | | | you can change your vote in a poll so the idea changing through discussion isn't really a problem. And thats an issue even if the user creates the poll. Plus that actually occurs now because someone might be like 'thats a dumb idea' and then after discussion be 'thats a great idea'. Its probably a good idea however for the OP to update their first post with the modified idea so that is always at the top. but the original post should probably be kept, so something like Quote: Modified Feature Request new idea gets put here
Original post leave the original post here so the thought flow isn't lost
though no way to really enforce that standard as far as the poll, wording on the poll always becomes an issue. This solves that and gauges interest. You could also make it so the standard poll only gets added if the user does not create a poll of his/her own. Or have an second option next to make this a Poll that is "Add a standard poll". However I think the standard poll would probably be more efficient to gauge interest because a lot of polls now are just yes or no, with the occasional I don't care. And the wording is not always that simple and someone always says you left out this option or that option. You don't have to vote, if Ken can see how many people chose the "Skip this option" then he can get a good idea for those that want it, those that dont (along with how they rate it), and those with no opinion. If not, then instead of other I would suggest 'No Opinion" because if i want to comment on the idea its known by my post I don't need to vote so people know I have other thoughts -Agrare | | | Last edited: by Agrare |

| Posted: | | | | I was just about to start a thread just like this one. Since there's already one here, I'd just like to make a quick post and voice my support for this idea.
