I would like to make an update to a german Boxset. This set contains all "Die Hard" Movies.

The Boxset has to be "empty", but the existing contains audio tracks, Features and Video Formats. I deleted all this entries. In the past it was possible to remove the the checkboxes (Pan&Scan/Full Frame/Widescreen). But now i get this error when i want to contribute the data?

Quote:
-no video formats specified

I checked various other Boxsets in my collection and also contributed some in the past, all of them without the Video Formats, which belongs to the child profils. Only PAL is selected.

thick 16 x 9 enhanced
Aspect ratio 2.35:1
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

I was under the impression the aspect ratio wasn't required and, in fact, not supposed to be included for Box Set parent profiles.

That's my impression as well, however in the past the video format was required to be able to contribute. Which leads to the question: which program version are you running? (3.1.1 build 1171 is the most recent one.)

Looks you have to enter one of those:
- Pan & Scan
- Full Frame
- Widescreen

Strange, I've just tried it on this profile: 786936-216790 and it's accepted the removal with no errors. I've even submitted it with no problems. This was an NTSC profile, I'll see if I can find a PAL one to see if that makes a difference.

Edit: no, I've just been allowed to submit the removal on this profile too: 5-060020-623158 (note: this submission has been withdrawn as I saw more that need doing, but it did work)

I have the actual DVD-Profiler version with the build 1171.

I successfully removed the video formats from the German "Tarantino Collection" (828765467391) this afternoon and contributed the change without any problems.
But when i try the exact same thing with the german "Die Hard Collection" (4010232041869) i get this error message.

OK, I just downloaded this profile and tried it myself and I also got the error message.
However, I then added child profiles to it and it now allows me to submit the changes!

So it seems you are only allowed to remove the video formats when it is a parent profile.
Do you have any child profiles attached to it in your collection?

Confirmed: adding childs to the box lets you remove the video format.

That's it! This Box is new in my collection and I has no children yet. I try to make new scans too and contribute the complete one this evening.

Thanks for the help.

The contribution rules on box sets (link) name a number of fields that should not be entered into box set profiles. "Video format" is NOT among them, and as such, the field can, or maybe even should be entered.

Yes, the box set rules do not mention the Video Format but since the program allows you to contribute Box Set profiles without it, which it does not with non-Box Set profiles, you could say the format does not have to be, or maybe even shoud not be entered.

Exactly. Moreover, the contribution rules do not tell you how to deal with various video formats within a box set either.

And as I recall, you couldn't submit a parent profile without video format until some time ago. This change may not yet have found its way into the contribution rules on box sets.
