| Posted: | | | | I want to submit some DVD's created & published by my local PBS station (www.cptv.org). They do not have UPC codes. I have been able to figure out all of the info I believe is "required" for a successful contribution; except for the "DVD Release Date" for each of the DVD's. I've written to the studio explaining what I would like, but I'm not sure whether I dare hope to get the info.
Is the "DVD Release Date" actually required for a successful contribution?
Thanks, pat---- | | | pat---- |

| Posted: | | | | Quickest way to find out is simply to try submitting the profiles. As far as I'm aware, it is possible to add a profile to the online database without a release date, so I don't think you'll have a problem. |

| Posted: | | | | I suppose if DVD Profiler is able to generate a Disc ID you should be able to contribute them. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

| Posted: | | | | Ah! Perhaps that's what's lodged in my aged memory ... Production Year not Release Date as being required. In that case, I'm good to go ... I *do* have that info. Thanks for the quick replies! Off to contribute. | | | pat---- |

| Posted: | | | | I have a a large number number of college lectures courses, from "The Teaching Company" and a few other specialty discs, but I don't contribute them. They just started putting UPC ()13 digits numbers on them, as well as the ISBN. So I have started to catalog them. I don't assign cillection numbers to them. The DVD profiler program taked them. I don't have any dates but a copywrite date. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. Ineptocracy, You got to love it. | Posted: | | | | I agree... if you don't know, or can't confirm a release date, then just leave it blank. I've had to do this quite often with releases that only show up at Wal-Mart stores, really obscure imports, etc. | | | Corey |

| Posted: | | | | The DVD release date is NOT required for a successful contribution. I have contributed many profiles for more or less obscure releases for which I didn't have a release date, and that never led to any problems. Just leave the field blank. Bigdaddy is right: it's the production year that's required. |

That phpDVDProfiler is very nice! I need to poke my nose around these forums more than just when ever I make the rare contribution! <blush> I'm going to have to go read up on that.
All,
Thank you very much. I submitted the contributions last night. I entered them into DVBDProfiler by DVD ID, I do have the Production Years, pretty good cover scans, video, audio & feature details, Crew names (well, producers, directors and writers which are documented on each case). We'll see if they are accepted. <fingers crossed> | | | pat---- |
