| Posted: | | | | Hi all. This is my first post and i swear i cant find the answer i want.
All i want to know is can i have the ability to have multi databases, say one for SD-DVD, one for Blu-ray and one for HD-DVD's.
I looked in the FAQ's, and did a search, which is very hard to read with out the formatting. So any help would be appreciated.
Cheers |

| Posted: | | | | I think the simple answer is NO, you can't have more than one online database.. As far as I know you get one online for each login account.
Also, unless you have paid for a premium account, I think your online database has limits. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges. DVD Profiler user since June 15, 2001 | | | Last edited: by kdh1949 |

That has nothing to do with what i want to do. I undertsand you cant use your own images for the online database, unless you use the phpDVDProfiler, as mentioned i that thread. Though as kdh1949, has pointed out it might be a limitation in reagards to only getting "1" database with each login. Then the only wat around it would be to use 3 logins and 3 premium ACCT's, so you can go above 50 discs. Just thought it would nice to have seperate lists that you could share with people that only have that specific format, so as they dont then need to go through one HUGE list to a Blu-ray disc for example. Thanks for the comments though. |

| Posted: | | | | sorry had to explain more. as you can have several databases localy: from the DVD Profiler menu: - Open Database - New Database (bottom middle button) you can export these databases to an online: phpMyProfiler: quote: Quote: phpMyProfiler is a skript to display DVD Profiler-exports on your own web-server.
At first, you'll need a Windows program called "DVD Profiler" (http://www.invelos.com). This Software has evolved as standard for organizing DVDs. It's available in a free, ad-sponsered version, as well as a premium version (price: about $29.95). You can easily organize your collection with it: Choose 'add DVD' and enter the UPC. Usually your DVD has already been entered by someone else and so all relevant data can be downloaded. That makes it really easy. After you've added your data, export your collection: File Export profildatabase Please select "XML" as output-option and save your db.
This XML-File has to be transfered via FTP into your 'admin'-directory on your webserver (Alternativly, you may also zip your xml-file and tranfer it via the form in your admin-menu). After you've parsed the xml-file, your collection is available.

| Posted: | | | | hello!
I understand the GigaWizard explainations, but as for myself, if i understand it right, i want to seperate my dvd collection in two parts ( like one for foreign movies, and the other one for canadian releases etc) so i need to do 2 separate databases but only one of them will be visible online unless i pay for another premium account?
just to make sure....
have a nice day! | | | ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸JebeliS¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø |

have a nice day! well yes and no. if you have 2 separate databases than only one can be uploaded to the online and therefore visible online. However, you could make a third database that has all of your movies and put that online then all your movies would show online and you will also be able to vote on contributions for all of your titles. You can combine the database by using backup and restore. 1) backup both databases 2) restore 1 to a new database 3) restore the second but first a) uncheck the restore entire database (not sure on the actual wording and don't currently have access to DVD profiler) b) check select all profiles, then restore. what this does is add the titles from that backup to the database without overwriting it. you can use step 3 to transfer new titles and changes from the separate databases so you only have to make updates and changes once for each title. additionally when you make the backup for a transfer you can backup just the new/changed profiles. You could also add everything to the combined database and do a selective restore to update the titles in the other databases. Additionally, you could take the combined database and set up tags for your two categories (foreign movies and Canadian releases) and then filter the collection on these flags. Even using mediadogg's MyTabs plug in to separate them onto different custom tabs Hope I didn't confuse you more -Agrare |
