| Posted: | | | | OK, I'm a new user of DVD Profiler, and in cataloguing my DVDs I found four or five that had no profiles online. I scanned the images, added an overview, UP, identified the resolution / display, and added a couple of comments (e.g. DVD cover scanned, overview from Netflix). Submitted them all and twice now they've been "declined". I haven't had the time, yet, to complete the profile but I thought I'd get the basics and submit. After declined the first time I added some more comments and submitted again, and once again the submissions were declined (it appears automatically). At this point I'm asking the question, "Why bother?" as I have what I need for my personal collection.
What's the secret / trick to have a submission accepted? |

| Posted: | | | | 1. Welcome to the asylum/mad house/Hotel California B. Let me provide a link to the contribution Rules. The critical thing is that, with rare exceptions, we are capturing the data on the DVD/HD-DVD/BD. If the jacket has an overview, that's the one to use, even if Netflix overview is better. It's the sources of the data that probably got you declined. The source of the data should be the DVD first and foremost. Third party sources should be avoided. If you have UPC's that aren't yet submitted then by all means submit them. New submissions are always welcome. But for a variety of reasons (some legal...like Netflix/IMDb/etc. might not appreciate you copying their info) use the info on the DVD. | | | Bad movie? | Posted: | | | | Automatic declines usually indicate that your locality, currency or some other aspect of your contribution may not match the EAN/UPC you are submitting. Check to make sure your locality/currency and other aspects of your titles match your region. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

| Posted: | | | | You should also remove any unnecessary birth years from your contributions. Birth years should only be used when there are 2 people with the same name. As the folks already mentioned, the rules are the best place to start.

| Posted: | | | | Taking the overview from netflix and not the back-cover, for example, is against the contribution rules. The overview should come from the DVDs back-cover only. | | | Lutz |

| Posted: | | | | Darxon is absolutely correct. Your first place to start as Gerri suggested is reading the Contribution Rules and then follow them. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | Plus not knowing what country you are from,, ( it's a personal choice thing),, If you are from Canada such as I, I find times that certain titles under Canada locality show no results for title search, but if you use the USA as locality you may find as many as three or four titles of the same. Each title being of a different release or specialty edition. You may find your title and the correct UPC/EAN code under a different locality., download that edition,, then go into the third tab across the top /DVD/locality and change the locality to your country. Then double check all areas of the newly downloaded title, and seeing that all areas and tickboxes are correct and in place.. Then you can upload this 'new' contribution back on line for the new locality.. Chances are very good to even that it will be accepted. I have also discovered that if you have a brand new title that is not at all in the data base under all localities, even if you submit a barebones contribution it will be be accepted and approved and on line within 24 hours .. ( Thanks Gerri ). . Other 'regular' contributions take up to 4 to 5 days. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.
