My wife regularly buy magazines whith a free a DVD movie in an envelope cover. They NEVER have an EAN code, so I usually add them to my local database by name and maybe do some minor corrections (and don't contribute them).

The last movie she got this way could not be found in same region (2), and the region 1 movie found have a totally different cover.

Should I contribute this movie ?
And what about her other "magazine" movies, should I contibute those because of the different cover ?

If those are not in your locality you should contribute them if you want to. Even if they don't have an EAN you could still enter them by disc-id. It becomes only complicated when the disc-id is already used.
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

Usually the magazine DVDs get a new Disc-ID so it should be safe to give it a try. To make sure that you don't overwrite an existing profile put the DVD into your DVD-ROM-Drive while DVDPro is running. There should be a little PopUp which tells you whether the DVD was recognized or not.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

As goblinsdoitall wrote! The most easiest way to contribute magazine DVD's is this way (provided the referring DVD is not in the database):

1. Download an existing profile of the film
2. Insert the magazine DVD into your DVD drive
3. Go to menu DVD "change" EAN and click "use disc-id" (most important point, otherwise you would try to overwrite an existing profile when contributing!)
4. Now edit the profile to match the magazine DVD (e.g. audio tracks, subtitles, edition, overview, scans etc.)
5. Now contribute according to rules!

As long as they are commercial DVDs, you are good to contribute.  Simply follow the advice given by the 2 above me.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

This brings me to a few dvds I have that I'm not sure fit or how they fit if they do at all.

The first are a couple discs that came with "Total Movie magazine". They are mostly trailers and some behind the scenes stuff from existing or upcoming (at the time, these are 2000/2001) discs, but do have some cool exclusive (at the time) content. For instance, the first issue has the Star Wars mock short "Troops". You've probably seen it by now, it's like "Cops" but following Stormtroopers dealing with Jawas and Luke's drunken aunt and uncle.
I think I have 3 issue of this magazine, not even sure I have the zines, but havet he discs in custom covers I downloaded from the magazine's website. I also have the little envelopes the discs were originally in. I know this magazine is defunt and they still owe for me for subscribing!

The next are a couple issues of "Movie FX video magazine".
These are dvds which are the magazine, all content is on the discs. The jewel of this is issue #4, which has the forbidden Spider-Man trailer with the helicoptor caught in the WTC towers, recalled from everything after 9/11 except this, which was already avaiable. Also has cool exclusive features like an interview with KNB FX shop. They came in cardboard flaps around magazine size which could be used for covers.
Just looked and their website is still up, and it looks like they are still going.

Do any of them belong? I know I tried searching for them at some point in he past, but didn't see them as existing discs. Now that I can contribute, should I?

Sure... I have several of the Total Movie (Inside DVD) discs in my database... luckily the ones I have were all already in the database. But there is no reason not to add them... just add by disc ID.

I got lucky on my subscription to them... not only did I get all the magazines due me... but I was one of the few that got that 20 disc/40 classic movie boxset that was a gift for subscribing.

I also have a couple of Total Movie's discs around, though I can only still find one. The others are still around here somewhere...

I remember getting the magazine in the mail, and I didn't even subscribe to it - or recall requesting free issues.

There is a lot of the discs I don't have since I joined the Total Movie party later then most people. I doi have all the discs that I did get...maybe a couple of the magazines still laying around somewhere... but feel it was money well spent on getting that boxset alone. Granted the quality pretty much sucked... but I learned I enjoyed some classic movies that I would have never thought of checking out before then.

I think I got 1 issue and no boxset, so I was one of the ones who got the worst of the deal.
It sounded so good at the time of sending them a check, how was I to know they would go belly up the day after cashing it?
That must've been a while back when I checked, as I remember seeing nothing on the title search (unless I had the wrong region clicked). I know it was well before I went pro, so I'll try again and add/update any if they aren't there/could be better profiles.

I got the all the magazines starting at issue 1, the box set AND the free DVD player, which was a complete POS machine (and I'm not referring to POS acronym from the retail industry). I have some of the magazine DVDs around here somewhere, but I hadn't thought about that stuff in years until I read this thread.

I have issues 1 & 3-6 of Total Movie. I'm even more mad that there's listing for issues up to 9 and I never got those, or my box. Issue 1 wasn't in database but will be as it's already approved.

Also have issues 3 and 4 of Movie FX. 4 was there but not 3, so I just submitted that and updated 4.
