Just for HD-DVD lovers information...if you want to stock up on HD-DVDs, I'd do it quickly...the store I'm working at is preparing to almost immediately (like tomorrow immediately) send them back to our distributors as the makers are only allowing a very narrow time frame for returns.  The store I work at doesn't have all that many, but if you really want a title, I'd do it soon.

Hope this helps!

I expect that most of the major retailers will continue to sell-out or phase out their inventory, after all they are still people who will buy the HD-DVDs.  I know I am not alone in expecting big discounts in the next couple of weeks!!!

The store I work at (Borders) is a major retailer, as well, and I know my job is to pull them today.  I was told that because there is such a narrow window to return for money, that we have to do it quickly.  Whether that applies to other stores, I don't know, but wanted to get the warning out because I know most stores are in slumps right now and don't want to lose any more money than they have to.

I work for Best Buy, and I am on vacation this week, so I don't see the internal stuff, but I would expect the same behavior from them as well... The discs (and new releases) will wind up on .com only, and it will be slower shipping because it won't be coming direct from Best Buy's warehouse...

They might keep a couple of the better selling titles but they will return what they can. Given the choice of getting back all your money, and maybe having to sell it below cost they will take the sure bet.

The other thing that can happen is they will reissue the discs at a much lower "bargain bin" price and you don't want to be suck with old full price stock and have other stores selling below your cost.
