The rules on DVD title say:
Quote:
Use the title from the front cover.

Seems nice and simple. But it provides no back-up options for DVDs that don't have any text on the front cover. So I'm looking at this DVD, and trying to work out if it should have any title set at all:

I'm inclined to say that the rules mandate leaving the title blank, but that sounds like a bad idea. So what do you all think?

this was brought up back when the the first round of discussion about removing episode from the star wars titles came up (which actually came up from soemthing else i believe but i can't recall what started it)

a blank title or (-|-) or something similar is just ridiculous and useless. The use of a little common sense should be acceptable within the rules in cases such as this. and if its not I think the following needs to be added to the rules.

"If no title is present on the front cover, use the Original Title as the DVD title"

In cases like this you might use the original title.

EDIT: Agrare was a bit faster, but come to the same conclusion.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Yes, it does. But the rules clearly say to take the title from the front cover only. Which is why I was wondering what other people thought about this.

I'd think using the local title would be more appropriate - if the title was translated to the local language...

so you don't want to use any common sense then? Feel free to have a totally blank title in your collection - but the rest of us will probably have something like err. Batman..
