| Posted: | | | | Recently I've been getting an error on several DVD's in my collection when attempting to update their profile. The message when doing the update just says that it couldn't update the DVD's profile. When I attempted to restore those DVD's, that's when I get the above error message. At first I thought there was something wrong with the profile I've already downloaded, so I deleted one of the DVD's and attempted to restore it from my saved file but it will no longer restore and I can no longer even add the DVD to my profile even though it shows up on the DB when I enter the UPC.
Here's a list of the 4 DVD's that will not update (The Simpson's Movie was the one I deleted and can no longer add it into my collection):
Coll#879 Bladerunner UE Blu-Ray 085391185727 Coll#880 Halloween SE Unrated DC 796019805575 Coll#391 The Incredibles 2-Disc CE 786936244250 Coll#884 The Simpsons Movie Blu-Ray 024543492016
Any fix to this issue or am I stuck having to delete my entire collection and manually re-enter 900 DVD's back into my list?
Thanks |

| Posted: | | | | If the DB repair doesn't fix it and if it is really thumbnail-related, try rebuilding the thumbnails. To do so, right-click on the "View as Thumbnails" icon at the top-right of the collection list, then click "Rebuild Thumbnails". | | | Matthias |

| Posted: | | | | The other thing you could try is backup your database.
Create a new empty database and restore all the profiles except these four - select restore individual titles and then check all the titles except these 4. | | | Paul |

Thanks If you can't fix your problem the way that goodguy or agrare describe, all isn't lost. Just upload your current DB online ( Online -> DVD Profiler Online -> Log In -> Next -> Upload -> Next -> Next) To quickly get an empty database, go here: http://www.dougweb.org/dvdpro/emptydb/ and follow the directions. Now that you have an empty database, would probably do a database repair and clean images just to be on the safe side (Tools -> Options -> Utilities -> Clean Images // Tools -> Options -> Utilities -> Repair Database and do a FULL repair) Once you have an empty DB, download your online db ( Online -> DVD Profiler Online -> Log In -> Next -> Download -> Next -> Next) Next, download all cover images (Online -> Refresh All Images) Good luck! | | | Peter

| Posted: | | | | That you can't download anymore is because you only have a limited registration. This is limited to 50 profiles, more profiles can only be added manually. Have you ever considered to aquire the unlimited registration? It's only $29,95 and has so much more to offer than the free version. For upgrading check here | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | But that wouldn't prevent profiles from being updated though would it? I thought it just restricted the program, ie. low-res scans, no reports, no plugins etc. But you should still be able to add profiles and keep them updated? |

| Posted: | | | | I have a registered copy (for around 5 years now)...
The repair db function fixed the update issue. Although it's kind of odd that i could add new dvd's, just not the ones the program f'd up and locked me from updating if I deleted them...
Thanks to all of those that gave their time for advice! |

| Posted: | | | | Just wait a moment, if I got this right you have two accounts fstcvc76 and fstcvc?
Then please check the registration information in your DVDPro, probably they got mixed up and the limited interfere's with the unlimited account. That would explain your problems.
EDIT: @ northbloke: AFAIK if you have more than 50 DVD's on a limited account you can add new profiles only manually and this would (if logic is applied by the programmer) prevent you from updating the profiles too, because otherwise you could easily surpass the barrier. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! Thanks to all of those that gave their time for advice! Glad to hear that your problem is fixed. Even though you've been a reg'd DVD Profiler user for 5 years now, I notice that you've only made 1 (ok... 2 if you count your other login that is not reg'd) forum post. I just wanted to say WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!! You will find that most (if not all) people here are more than willing (and able) to help you out if you have any problems. You might want to check out the forum rulesIf you're interested in contributing or updating profiles for any DVDs in your collection, check out the contribution rulesReading the rules will also help you when voting on any profile updates that others make. To check that out click on the Database link at the top of any forum page. Happy Profiling!!! | | | Peter

You just can't upload to the online database and certain other features are disabled. See here | | | Paul | | | Last edited: by pauls42 |
