| Posted: | | | | I have recently updated the covers to Young Guns (012236-203445) BD and I got good feedback on those scan. The contribution is still pending, so I don't know how to post a link to that page, if it's possible at all if you don't have this title. I'm still not 100% satisfied with it, but here goes how I managed to do a ok scan of a reflective cover. First of all I let the cover stay in the case, so the plastic would avoid some reflection. note it has to be clean though. Then I placed it on the scanner, and used a black lap rug to cover the scanner so the light from outside is blocked out. After previewed it, I used the sharpen filter on my scan program, then I croped the cover so no other details are visible (the keepcase) It's important that the cover itself are adjusted so it's not askew in the case Then I adjusted with contrast, and brightness to make it as realistic as possible, and I did in fact do 20 scans with adjustment before I was satisfied with it. I scanned it in low resolution at first just to adjust color, brightness and contrast. After all adjustments were done, I scanned the cover at 1200dpi, but I noticed at the left bottom corner the scan had some brownish in it, so I had to cheat and use the clone stamp to maintain the silver from the bottom of the scan. I don't know what the brownish was doing there, but maybe my scanner is so cheap that it just does that . anyway, after adjusting and cleaning the scan I resized it to 500x700 still at 1200dpi and used the bicubical sharper method while resizing it. I think it's a good scan, better than the one from before, but still I don't know how to post the link to the pending site, so you could see it for yourself. If it's possible, please let me know. Also I know it's more scanning threads in this forum, so the moderators are free to move this thread within the Cover Image Scanning thread if wanted. | | | "What's God?" | Posted: | | | | I admire your techniques in the describing of your scans.., What model scanner do you have?
I don't have this title,, but I did download the disc to my data so I could compare., since I don't have the disc in hand I would have to only rely on the two scans on screen.. It would appear to me that yours is a tad too dark ( Emilio's shirt shows only one shirt button compared to two previous)., and the open box area is too bluish white compared to pale blue for old.? but like I say I don't have the jacket to compare.. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. | Posted: | | | | I use a Packard Bell 1200 plus scanner. As I said, I'm not still satisfied, but I have bought some lamination pouch (hope that is the right word) so I will continue to experiment on reflective covers | | | "What's God?" | Posted: | | | | I hope you got lamination material that does not look like mine (with crosshatch pattern in it). I have a sufficient quantity of them that I don't want to buy more just so I can experiment with scanning "trouble" covers. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges.
