| Posted: | | | | "La 36ème chambre de Shaolin - la trilogie" (UPC 3-700301-001207 ) is a boxset (containing 4 discs, 3 movies and a bonus disc). About everything in it was wrong, so I basically re-built everything : I constructed the boxset, provided correct scan, created the 4 discs as independant entities.
The 4 discs have been accepted, but the boxset itself, not !
"Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions."
All is left on that boxset profile is the overview, which I manually copied from the cover, and I said so in my notes. I removed all language, subtiltes, crew and cast info (since this is a boxset). Got 4 aye, zéro nay.
And got turned down. Please explain ? | | | Lernu la internacian lingvon |

http://www.invelos.com/MessagePost.aspx?task=newtopic&type=pm&alias=Gerri Cole I agree with richierich ... I had that happen to me on an image upload that was definately better then the existing one and it got shot down. I PM'd Geri and she explained that she had hit a button to decline it by accident. She PM'd me back and said that she would okay it. Worth a PM in my opinion. | Posted: | | | | I sent an answer to your PM. The issue was that the contribution notes are not in English, so I cant understand them. There are numerous changes in the profile, so I really need to understand the notes.
If you can't write them in English, you could try posting here, someone might be able to help translate.

| Posted: | | | | Well well...
I am using french when the profiles I submit are the french edition, because everything on the package is in french, and because the voters are bound to be french or understand french (why else own a french copy of a DVD ?)
Focused on the voting step, I skipped the reviewing step.
I will from now on provide notes in both languages.
(I also missed the point when you take in account the last submissions notes only. I have to make a habit to update my notes cumulatively)
The offending note was "J'ai repris l'overview : c'est maintenant la copie de ce qu'il y a sur le boîtier." which was an addendum to a previous "C'est un box set en fait ! / Tout refait dans ce sens..."
--- I'm wondering though, how come you can "review" submissions when parts of them correspond to what is printed on the package (overview, critics) and you don't understand that language? It's a blind "leap of faith", trusting the community would react accordingly if profanities or senseless oxen excrement were to slip by, unnoticed by the reviewers because they are written in vietnamese or klingon... | Posted: | | | | That's why there is the voting stage by people who actually have the DVD. If you did type something that didn't correpsond with the DVD, the voters would catch it and vote "no". In terms of the overview, the screener does not have to understand the language in order to compare it to the back cover scan to see if it matches. |

Quote: In terms of the overview, the screener does not have to understand the language in order to compare it to the back cover scan to see if it matches. The scans aren't high enough resolution to make out individual characters, though. One recent case was with the Monk season 1 DVD; it was originally released as a digipak, but I have a keepcase containing thinpaks. The submitted overview did not match what was on my box, and all I could tell from the scan was that the blocking was the same as I owned, and not the same as the submitted overview. Working from the actual box, I could make a decent guess that it was at least mostly the same, but had there been minor variations, or had I been working simply from unformatted text, I don't think I'd have been able to be sure enough that the overviews matched to be confident submitting. As it was, I felt I needed to ask digipak owners to to confirm it, just in case. I cannot imagine that trying to compare a block of unformatted plain text in a submission with the back cover scan is remotely possible. In fact, even if the scans were of a quality for the overview to be legible, it would still be incredibly difficult to confirm that they were identical. |
