| Posted: | | | | I have a Symbol LS3578-FZ Rugged Bar Code Scanner. it is wireless and the base station connects to my computer via a usb port. The scanner is charged through the base station via the USB connection or the included AC adapter. I am using Windows XP and have not had any problems with it. It is probably overkill for what I am using it for, this and inventorying equipment, but it works great! Le t me know if you have any questions about it. here is the address of the web page for the scanner, http://www.motorola.com/business/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=7f387b103d175110VgnVCM1000008406b00aRCRD&vgnextchannel=a166322c369b5110VgnVCM1000008406b00aRCRD
Let me know if you have any questions.

| Posted: | | | | Any scanner that works like a keyboard will do. In the US region the CueCat is the most used (at least that's how I understood it) Barcode Scanner topicsI bought mine via eBay., it's an OVOX USB scanner. It works under XP without any driver. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Hi,
I also use the CueCat bought from eBay.
For non US users, you have to set your keyboard to QWERTY to use it, otherwise it gives wrong data. | | | Registered: October 27, 2000 |

| Posted: | | | | can't you program the cuecat so that its output works with AZERTY keyboards? Most scanners have a manual where you can find barcodes to program your scanner to function a certain way. the cuecat is not programmable thius could give problems with other keyboard layouts. | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. | Posted: | | | | Why's that? The scan is based on numbers and they should be identical on most of the keyboard layouts, shouldn't they? | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | CueCat here too; I got it cheap off another DVDP user who was selling 3 off but they're also quite easy to find on Ebay IIRC | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

| Posted: | | | | I'm using a CipherLAB 1090, which I cheap got from QXL (danish auction site like Ebay) 4 or 5 years back... It even came with a manual - 28 pages of how to use, followed by 47 pages of barcodes, used to configure it. "Configuration" in this case is how the button should be treated (scan when button is held, button is on/off), the keyboard layout (as a barcode can also contain letters), number layout (as Giga says, the french need to press shift to get the numbers, and it will then take that into account), how loud and what pitch the OK-beep should be a million other things... It connects through a keyboard wedge, so it is "plugged in" between my keyboard and computer - no drivers needed and even works in plain old DOS! | | | The future is here. | Posted: | | | | Hi, this is strange but I don't know why. I'm in France and use a PS/2 AZERTY keyboard. The fact is that when I plug my PS/2 CueCat scanner through this keyboard and try to use it with DVDProfiler, I only get a long list of strange caracters that have nothing to do with the UPC (no number). In Regional Settings, if I swap to a QWERTY keyboard, the UPC is well recognized ! It is a bit boring because after scanning a DVD, I have to type french letters with a US keyboard. Anyway, I am still pleased with this product. | | | Registered: October 27, 2000 |

| Posted: | | | | Just bought a Manhattan USB 8cm CCD barcode scanner. It works great and I have programed it to stay on so I can scan numerous titles without removing it from it's stand.
It was about $79.00 at Cyberguys.com
