Are you referring to those cases that have reversible covers?  I've got a few of those.  If that's what you mean, I would use the side that was visible when it left the factory.  If you bought it used and aren't sure which side was originally visible, then it may take some research to find out which side that was.

I also have several of those in my collection. I would agree with Broven's comments, use the side as it was packaged retail...as long as the DVD studio was consistent and didn't flip-flop 'em.

I seem to recall a consensus sometime in the distant past that it was okay to also list a double-sided cover under Other Features.

The recently released Death Proof in the UK has been released with a reversible cover - and the shops are displaying both!

I would say just scan whichever you like the best, or the one that was showing when you bought it. Until we're allowed to store multiple cover scans we don't have any other choice.

Edit: I agree with Katatonia, I would class it as an "other feature" as well. At the very least it would stop covers ping-ponging with people thinking the wrong one has been scanned.

I agree, except if there is already an existing scan of one side, do not replace it with the other side in the online dB. That would lead to ping-ponging if everyone was submitting "the one they like best."

I agree, I only said that because CountHouse is talking about a new profile.

I would say use the side visible when you bought it unless you know for a FACT that it was sold with both sides showing.

I've seen a few variations, Pioneer used to use one side when sold as singles, then use the reverse side when a series was released in a box set (no UPC on the second side).

There are also discs that have art on the reverse side and come in a clear keepcase. This is not a reversible cover, it's intended to be viewed from inside the case.

Most of the reversable covers I see are the ones with French Canadian Artwork and Text on the reversable side., .

For Back To The Future, which was reversable I flipped it over to the French side and included it as scans for the French Canadian 'Quebec' Release of the Box Set set.  It was accepted..

Guessed the DVD in one!

Flipped a coin to decide which side - red won!
