I'm going to try to make some adjustments to 'Weird Al' Yankovic.  He seems to be listed in a myriad of ways.  My first step will be to go through each of my own DVDs that he is on and look at the credits and change his "Credited As" to match what is on the screen.  I have already verified that it is not correct in a large percentage of the credits.  This part is easy, though time intensive.

The hard part is how to enter his name in the cast list.  Here are some variants that I have thought of, and their returns from the credit lookup tool:
Weird Al Yankovic : 16 titles (16 profiles)
'Weird Al' Yankovic : 42 titles (65 profiles)
"Weird Al" Yankovic : 30 titles (60 profiles)
Al Yankovic : 6 titles (6 profiles)
Al 'Weird Al' Yankovic : 0 titles (0 profiles)
Al "Weird Al" Yankovic : 0 titles (0 profiles)

The results here tell me to change his name to 'Weird Al' Yankovic.  However, 'Weird Al' is a nickname and, by the rules, should be put into the middle name field.  So, if I understand the rules correctly, he should be listed as: Al/'Weird Al'/Yankovic
Is that correct?  I doubt that anybody has entered him that way, but I think that it is technically correct.

So, what do you guys think I should do?  I think the preference of most of the DVD owners, including myself, would be to have him as: 'Weird Al'//Yankovic.  Unfortunately, that seems to be a conflict with the rules.  And I will follow the rules to the letter if I make the decision myself.

I would say 'Weird Al'//Yankovic as it is his most common stage name.

For those that want his real name... Alfred/Matthew/Yankovic

Based on the credits I've seen myself, the name variant he's actually mostly credited with is "Weird Al" Yankovic. Note that the variant with the single quotation marks as currently declared the "winner" by the lookup tool is another IMDb-staple: they always use single quotation marks. IMHO, those results are purely IMDb-data, not so much based on actual credits.

His website, his MySpace, his YouTube-Page and the wikipedia-article on him all read "Weird Al" Yankovic, so "Weird Al"//Yankovic should be his common name IMHO.

So don't change it to the wrong, or I'll sue ya!!!

Also, though they are CDs, everyone that has his name on it has it as "Weird Al" Yankovic.
"Weird Al"//Yankovic is what I feel is right also

I agree with this, though technically by the rules it should be most credited, which if properly credited I would think would turn out to be "Weird Al"//Yankovic with the double quotes

*edit* nice song reference

I think enough creditable evidence should trump the lookup tool as the common name.

Doesn't the lookup feature depend on the "common name" value?  If it does, it's going to be a little hard to find him unless you remember the leading ".

Yep.  Or you can look him up by last name.  But if his name is cleaned up to be "Weird Al"//Yankovic it will not come up if you type in Al or Weird in the lookup tool.  You'd have to type "Weird or Yankovic.  But I'm fine with that, just so long as I don't have to type "Weird" to get some of his films, 'Weird' to get others, Weird for still more, and Al for the rest.  Unfortunately, that's how it is right now.

So, it seems that the consensus is to change this to: "Weird Al"//Yankovic.  I'll start working on that this week.  I'll also be verifying and fixing the "Credited As" data for all of the discs I have to ensure proper credits.
