| Posted: | | | | I picked up The Fountain re-release on HD DVD at the recent Amazon sale, or so I thought... It was advertised and priced as the non-combo edition and neither the case nor the cover makes any mention of a combo disc, yet that is precisely what's inside the case, complete with a leaflet explaining the combo format so clearly it was no mistake! The cover even has the correct upc for the non-combo edition. Has anyone else experienced this? Needless to say, I find it quite annoying... | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

Personally, I don't like the data on both sides of a disc. | | | Schultzy - http://www.michaelschultz.net grenactics - The art of skillfully fraggin one’s opponent with the use of grenades or other compact explosive devices that are thrown by hand or projected. |

| Posted: | | | | A couple of reasons... First of all I want to have the artwork on the disc, now all I get is fingerprints. And my only other combo so far (Bourne Ultimatum) has some problems playing on my player, and many other people have reported problems with their combo-discs. It just feels like a more unreliable technology...
But my main issue here is with Warner's sneaky methods... Maybe they're trying to unload their inventory. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | Still don't understand it. I've never had a problem with a combo disc. Actually I've never had a problem with any HD DVD. And I don't care about artwork on the disc, as I look at the disc for about 1-2 seconds as it goes from the case to the player. |

| Posted: | | | | The problem with dual sided disks is the ability to read that tiny little print along the edge to find out what is - side 1 / side 2.. I don't have any of the dual sided combos, so can't say what I'd expect to see., But the earlier days of flippers were annoying for tha treason of the tiny print.
I perfer silk screened discs.. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

The HD DVD/DVD combos are bit easier since one side is silver and the other side is blue. | Posted: | | | | i generally dislike double sided discs, from a care and cosmetic point of view, but also enough reports of playback issues would make me scared... either way it doesnt matter anymore, because i went from dual format, to blu only.... | | | -JoN |

I only have 5 HD discs so far,, and like I said none of them are dual combo's .. But thanks for the heads up on that.. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. There's still many HD DVD exclusive's coming out... American Gangster Beowulf (Director's Cut) Bee Movie The Kite Runner Into The Wild Fletch Things We Lost In The Fire Atonement (rumored to be HD DVD only, no confirmation) Not a whole lot of "must owns" in there admittedly, but just saying that even as a supposedly "dead" format they still have new releases coming you will not be able to get on blu-ray for quite a while. | | | "Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men" - Douglas Bader "A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools." - Douglas Adams |

i understand, and certainly have no intrest in getting into a red vs. blu debate... however i will go on record as saying that I got out at the right time... due to benefits from my work and solid deal hunting, i actually came out $7 ahead when i got out of the red camp... i obviously don't regret it one bit from that perspective... i did however immediately take that money and bought a second blu-ray player (i dont care about pip or web content so i most likely wont own a profile 2.0 player until they are sub $100) - i work in the industry, and stand by my decision. | | | -JoN | | | Last edited: by ruineddaydreams |
