| Posted: | | | | It would be really useful if, on adding new titles to my wishlist or owned list, I could automatically download full profiles to DVDPM rather than waiting until I can sync up.
Of course, you would want a way to opt out of this, if your service provider charges moe than you'd like for internet access, but with that in place, it would be a very useful feature. |

| Posted: | | | | I'll second this as its something I've thought of as well. As long as you can turn it on/off it would be very useful. Additionally if you could pull the new title list from online as well using the pda's online access would be great.

| Posted: | | | | This would be enormously helpful for me since I run DVD Profiler on my main PC, but I have an occasional use laptop that my PPC phone is paired with. In order to get my library on the phone now, I have to backup my database on the main PC, copy it to the laptop, restore it to a 2nd installation of DVD Profiler and then Sync. Rather a pain in the neck since I so rarely need to sync for anything else. Thanks for listening to the request, | | | pat---- | | | Last edited: by psklenar |

| Posted: | | | | I think the problem with this is the method of delivery. You'll need a server which will be your PC. Your PC will need to be connected to the Internet. Your PocketPC will also need a service installed that runs outside of the DVDP Handheld client which occasionally polls your PC for updates. But in order to poll your PC, you'll need a static IP address so that it can find it each time it polls for an update. Since the vast majority of home users have dynamic IP addresses, you'll have to update your device every time your IP address changes unless you pay to have a dynamic IP address tied to a domain. But that introduces more charges such as registering a domain and utilizing a dynamic IP host such as no-ip.com.
While the idea is good, I don't personally see it as feasible. |

| Posted: | | | | Why not just use Invelos' server to download the data from? The PocketPC dials out to the main server, downloads the new data when you add a new title, and that's all you need.
I think you're overthinking this. |

| Posted: | | | | Yeah, I tend to over think things. The service on the handheld would still be needed and, of course, you would have to upload your profile whenever you add movies. |

| Posted: | | | | You'd need to sync up with your main DB, yes. But you wouldn't need to do that in real-time. And you don't need to upload your entire profile; just get the details for the one UPC you've added. When you sync up to your desktop, all the general updates can happen then, just as they do now. | | | Last edited: by wintermute115 |

| Posted: | | | | I could even be happy with a simple compromise of the mobile version being able to connect to the online DB, comparing highest collection number and DLing the info and cover just for anything above that. Bi-directional updates would be great, but for my personal needs ... just knowing i have the current list of owned DVDs with me would be sufficient (so i can tell a family member "yes, i have that", or "no i don't", or so i could quick check when in the store to make sure i don't have an old movie before buying it again. Like I said, this certainly isn't a robust bi-directional setup, but ... it would address a big part of the reason for carrying the list around with me in the first place. I always update the online list when ever I add a new DVD to my main PC database, so ... a basic list "keeper currenter" function (tm) would actually be a good compromise from my point of view. Thank you for even considering it! | | | pat---- |

Thanks for listening to the request, why don't you just sync with your main PC. The phone doesn't need to be 'paired' to the pc but you can still sync dvd profiler over active sync. My phone is paired with my desktop, that has my outlook and all. But my dvd profiler is on my laptop and I sync my dvd profiler mobile to my laptop. Just plug it in, let active sync come up, and then click the sync button. -Agrare |

I was going to propose this! I've had more than one use for it lately, and no way to do it. One problem might be needing some sort of *.mobi setup on the invelos side. (?) |
