From an interview on CBS.com

CBS.com: How did you go from Hans Gudegast of Germany to Eric Braeden of Hollywood?
ERIC BRAEDEN: Well, I've been an actor since 1961. [I've] been in many, many films, many television shows, broadway, stage - done it all. And I changed from Hans Gudegast to Eric Braeden in 1969 for a film called Colossus: The Forbin Project. I starred in that film at Universal Studios. It was a great science fiction film. Lew Wasserman, who was the President of Universal Studios, insisted that no one with a German name would star in an American picture and hence, the name change. I was doing a picture at the time with Raquel Welch and Burt Reynolds and Jim Brown. That's when the name change idea came around and we all laughed at it. It was the most painful decision I ever had to make. But I'm glad I did now.

So we could use a Eric Braeden as his common name since that is what he is going by now and put Hans Gudegast (or variations of) as his credited name  - correct?

Here is what projects he appeared in as Hans Gudegast.
Mission: Impossible
Rat Patrol
The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
Combat!
and a few others

This would prove that both names is the same person... but nothing there to make it his common name. The rules (and Ken's Statement) was the most commonly credit through the look-up tool only. Now I didn't check to see which is the most common way he is credited... but if the tool says Eric Braeden is the most commonly credit we have to use that... but if it is Hans Gudegast we would have to use it.

Thats cool... as I said... I didn't check... and he didn't say whether he checked or not.

Anywhere I made the change I would copy that to the contribution notes... and provide a link so it will be in the notes where needed... and people can see for their selves on the site if they wish to.

Hmmm.  Let's see.  Except for March Madness (college basketball) and certain other sports events and an occasional holiday (Christmas, New Years), CBS airs The Young and the Restless 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year.  Eric Braeden appears in nearly every episode and has since 1980 (477 episodes according to IMDb).  So, clearly the common name WOULD be Eric Braeden - except for a couple of reasons. (1) Y&R isn't available on DVD yet. (2) Y&R doesn't run credits for the actors every day, so in a good number of the 477 episodes, the cast would be considered "uncredited."
Another Ken (not Ken Cole)

Do you imagine the boxset for one season
Something like 75 DVD with 4 episodes each (if we take 300 episodes/seasons). Who will have the money for buying the complete and neverending serie?
