| Posted: | | | | Hi, I'm trying to create a unique collection number for Each disc in a single DVD title, for example NCIS UPC 9324915062085 automatically creates a single collection number but contains 6 DVD's . When I look into the properties it has the 6 discs listed but only has the 1 collection number - Is it possible for Profiler to assign a collection number for Each Disc
thanks |

| Posted: | | | | Hello,
if you right click the titles, under the personal menu, you can add numbers to those discs, most likely you will need to uncheck the "none" box under collection number. | | | -JoN |

| Posted: | | | | You can also set these up as a box set by going to the parent profile and using Edit Profile > Box Set Contents and assigning the individual disks that make up the box set to the contents. I would suggest that you then set the parent profile collection number to none as described by Jon. |

| Posted: | | | | that doesnt work - by going to personalise & removing the collection number for the main title I can assign a "location" & "slot" but these mean nothing as they dont appear as a collection number.
the 2nd option of edit profile > box set contents is no better as the DVD doesnt even appear in the assign list.
any other thoughts |

| Posted: | | | | You will need to download the child profiles from the online database. These will use disc id. You will need to insert the disc to do this. They may not be available online, in which case you will need to create the profile. You can probably dowload another version by title and use the change UPC option to add it by disc id. | | | Last edited: by Telecine |

| Posted: | | | | The profiles for the discs in the boxset are available online in Region 1. They are not available in Region 4. Download the Region 1 profiles, then from the DVD menu in DVD Profiler, change the locality and use the change UPC option to change the disc id to the one in your Box Set. Check for any other diferrences such as runtime then contribute them to the online database. | | | Last edited: by Telecine |

| Posted: | | | | Wow - I cant believe this program is so limited. Each Disc has a unique ID yet it cant distinguish between disc1 & disc2 of a boxed set. I added the 1st disc of a boxed set OK but the 2nd disc refused to be added.
Of course I suppose I can go in & "make up" a fake disc for each in the boxed set + copy & paste the details from one to the next + give each disc the same image from the orginal but thats a pretty hopeless way of doing things. |

| Posted: | | | | The details for each disc need to be added as a separate profile. In a box set these are referred to as child profiles.
As I suggested in an earlier post, the easy way for you to do this is to download the disc id child profiles from Region 1 and use the Change UPC function in DVD Profiler to change the disc id to the one in your Region 4 box set. Once you have done this, make any necessary changes to the profile and contribute it to the online database.
This is a user built database and relies on users like you and me making these contrubutions so that others can share. | | | Last edited: by Telecine |

| Posted: | | | | @Adam As a question for understanding: How many different profiles do you actually have for that NCIS box? From your statements I'd say one. What you need is one parent profile and six child profiles. How to do that? The parent profile you've gotten already. Now enter the first disc in your DVD ROM drive. Go to the "Add DVD" menu of DVDProfiler and switch to "Add by disc". If DVDProfiler is properly configured (see Tools->Options->System) it will detect the disc and give you a DiscId). Now you add the disc and the five others as well. Now you open the parent profile, go to "Personalize" and set the collection number to "none". Now you go to "Box Set" and find these six discs and add them to this profile. Done. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | I can add the "parent profile" - by that I mean I simply add the dvd box set to my collection. In my dbase its now assigned as collection number 503. However if I try to add the individual disc's in the box set the response is its already part of your owned collection.
Maybe another approach is required - Lets say I have 3 copies of an identical DVD's. Is it possible to add the 3 identical DVD's to my collection assigning each DVD with a unique collection number?.
Thanks |

Thanks sure.. Add the first using UPC (aka EAN) Add the 2nd using DiscID Add the third using title only (create manual profile) ----- And for your 6 dvd box set (do what Karsten said i.e.) Disc set profile - UPC (aka EAN) disc 1 - discID of this disc (put the disc in the PC drive and get dvd profiler to collect the discID disc 2 - discID of this disc (and put this disc in the Pc drive and get....) disc 3 - discId of this disc... etc | | | Paul | | | Last edited: by pauls42 |

You cannot have two DVDs with the same identifier, meaning you cannot have two DVDs with the same UPC or two DVDs with the same DiscId You can however (as pauls42 said) add the first by UPC and the second by DiscId. For the third one you need to use a manual profile. You can create a manual profile by going to "Add by Title" and then unchecking the "Download from Invelos" checkbox. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | The profiles that you want to to the box set are not available in the online database with the disc ids that you have.
What you need to do is download them from Region 1 by Title then modify them. To do this in DVD Profiler go to DVD > Add to Collection > Add by Title then select Region 1 and type NCIS. You will see all the seasons and discs. Select the appropriate ones and add them to your collection.
Once you have dowloaded the Region 1 equivalents, you can use the change locality and change UPC functions to create the Region 4 versions. Check that all other details are correct.
Once you have done this you can add them to your box set. Go to the parent box set profile and double-click it to go into edit mode. Select Box Set Contents and type in the titles that you just added, assign them to the box set and click ok. You will now have a box set with child profiles.
Finally, contribute the new Region 4 profiles to the online database. For each profile select the profile and slect Online > Contribute DVD Profile. You will need to make appropriate contribution notes stating your source for the contribution. In this case, state that you have based them on the Region 1 profile. |

| Posted: | | | | Somethings very wrong. OK I've completely uninstalled the app & reinstalled with no collection. I've added the NCIS DVD from my barcode scanner & its collection number 1 (the only 1 in my new collection). Now I've inserted the 1st Disc into the drive & went to "Add Inserted Disc" but again the error about it already is part of your collection comes up.
I've tried the "expand box set" option under tools-options-display but its makes no difference.
Just so I'm not being clear I'm trying trying trying to make disc1 in this box set become my collection number1, disc2 = collection number2, disc3 = collection number3, disc4 = collection number4 etc... |

If you have a look at the current profile that you have for the entire season, you will see that someone has added the disc ids to that profile. That is why Profiler keeps saying that the discs that you inser are already part of your collection. You can remove them by going into edit mode for the profile > Discs, find the discs and select Remove. |
