| Posted: | | | | I was curious how many people here have made the jump to Vista. I have read nothing but not so good reviews for the last year or so, and I have had the disc here for a while now (Vista Home Premium) and figured I would give it a test run. So far, I have been really impressed, Apps open and close faster boot and shutdown time is snappier and all the apps I have tried so far have ran great, the only annoyance I have had is having to confirm just about ebery action over and over . So let me know what your thoughts are. The poll question is What version of Windows do you run? | | | DVD Profiler user since October 1, 2004 |

| Posted: | | | | Probably you need to add an option or two. Win2k certainly comes to mind. And perhaps something like "Other, explain" (either for rare cases of Me or 98, or for those that have managed to get DVDP running on Linux/Mac). |

I don't believe that Profiler works at all with windows 95,, so I don't know why it was included in the poll. But apart from that I Use XP Sp2 with IE 7 on my Main desk PC and XP Sp2 with Mozilla Firefox on my Laptop. XP has been very good to us over Windows 98/ME/2000 of which I have used in the past. I am also very happy with IE 7 as browser with Googlebar installed. In the old days (ten years ago), I was always formatting my HD every other month as it seemed to fill up with a lot of temp files, various viirus's /spam (no proper firewall then) and/or badly installed app's .. But since XP I have never had to format my HD in three years except for when my Motherboard quit and my new MB didn't recognise my older installed HD., So with sata installed 160 GB partitioned, and my old HD hooked up to pull over all files I needed.. I can now run with 320 GB of Harddrive, along with two 512 MB ram and a 2.00 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core processor as well as my XP SP2 purchased back in 2004, I will never go to Vista unless Microsoft stops all updates to XP as they recently done with Windows 98 and Windows ME .. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. | Posted: | | | | I have a Mac and use VMWare Fusion to run Windows, mainly/only to run DVD Profiler. I use Win XP even though I Vista was available at the time, because I didn't want Vista. | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) |

| Posted: | | | | I chose "I run Vista because it come pre-installed and I do not own XP"
though to be totally accurate that is only on my laptop, and I do have a copy of XP i could install on my laptop but still haven't decided if I am going to as I really only use my laptop for DVD Profiler, surfing the web while watching TV, and a few other minor tasks
All my other machines (older laptop, main desktop and couple other random desktop machines, even work computer) all run XP |

| Posted: | | | | I run XP for some very simple reasons. On identical hardware, Vista runs slower than XP, supports less hardware peripherals than XP and runs less applications than XP. I won't even get into the way DRM purposely cripples your hardware if it sees something it doesn't approve of (like an analog video signal, for starters). No offense to anyone who likes Vista, but what exactly is the attraction, other than the hip newness of it? Oh...and I'm sure by now you've all read who the second or third website is that Vista contacts once it's on the internet. | | | Last edited: by mdnitoil |

| Posted: | | | | My computer is recent since I bought it last year because I couldn't use DVDP anymore on my old one
Vista came with it, but I was not interested to work as a beta tester for Microsoft with no pay another time. I've to paid a suplement for one copy of XP, but for runing my computer without one crash every 20 minutes that's not a problem.
Before that I was using W95 and it was not fun at all to use the version 2.4 (cast and crew didn't work, 10 minutes to enter the UPC of one DVD, more than 1 hour for refreshing the online list,...). |

| Posted: | | | | I don't see the point going Vista but I guess it will come pre-installed on my next computer... Unless it's a Mac. But I bought a new computer last year so that will be a while... | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | I'm with XP here at home and at work. Being part of the IS team at work, we'll be among the first to get Vista when the time comes and there's nothing I can do about that. Here at home, I've just not wanted to spend the money. If I wasn't so cheap, I'd do it because I'm a sucker for the latest and greatest. I did have someone send me Vista Ultimate, but it turned out to be a pirated copy (I should have seen that one coming ) and I have no intention of installing it (or passing it on to someone else). Besides preferring to buy my software, it's just not worth the risk of getting caught. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. | Posted: | | | | Vista came pre-installed on the new computer that I custom ordered last year. I like a lot of the new features...and what I didn't like wasn't very hard to disable.
I still have XP on my old Pentium 4 (slow!) computer, which is still plugged up and working...although I rarely use it. Vista would crawl on this one!!! | | | Corey |
