I had just finished reading one post and hit the back button to get to the next NEW post, but when I got there nothing was flagged as NEW and I had been signed out and had to log back in.  Of course when this happened, I lost all the NEW flags for messages I hadn't looked at yet.  Now I have to take the time to examine the date of the message to guess which ones I haven't looked at yet.

This happens intermittently and doesn't seem to matter whether I'm actively doing something or not.  Some times I go away for a long period of time (>10 min) and I'm still logged in.  Other times I get logged out in the length of time it takes me to read a single post.

Clicking the "Kerep me logged in" check box before logging in is supposed to prevent being automatically logged out. However, the NEW flags for messages will still disappear after a certain amount of time, but at least you wouldn't be logged out.

Keep in mind that cookies are used to maintain your user credentials and thus keep you logged in.  If you purge your cookies, the Invelos web servers can't identify you any longer and you will need to log back in.

I've had problems getting logged out in the past.  What I started doing was to use a tabbed browser.  I just open everything I'm interested in and then work my way through the tabs.  That way I don't have to worry about getting logged out.

I almost always click the "keep me logged in" so I don't think that's what my problem is.

Timeout after period of inactivity doesn't seem consistent.  Sometimes I am NOT logged out after a fairly long time of inactivity, other times I am logged out even while doing something in the forum (clicking other posts, etc.)  That's what happened which caused me to initiate this post in the first place.  I understand being logged off after inactivity, just not DURING periods of activity.

I'm just miffed that I lose the NEW flags.

A slight understatement. A few days ago I wanted to answer a question regarding Reports and I positively had no luck doing a search either with Opera nor with Firefox.

Browsers have cookie limits, so when the limit is exceeded, older cookies are purged. I'm not sure if it uses a creation date or last modified date to purge, but if you visit a lot of websites that serve cookies, they'll get pushed out every once in awhile.
