Hi guys,

I'm posting in this forum because it generally gets more views and it is a request for a feature. So here goes, feel free to shoot me down! lol (no doubt someone will!)

When I discovered DVD Profiler I was over the moon, even more so when I discovered that I could share my collection with everyone on my own online page, fantastic stuff. However, as time has gone on, I've found myself increasingly frustrated with the fact that so many people are using phpdvdprofiler and have beautiful looking online profiles with stats and all that jazz. I'm a php programmer myself and love it, I have it working locally and it's great. However, I'm frustrated because I have many child profiles and I want to be able to view these as box sets on my online collection as phpdvdprofiler does, however, I've signed up to a php enabled domain provider and they refuse to honour their promise that jpgraph was available, now my online phpdvdprofiler does not have all the bells and whistles with graphs etc.

So my suggestion is this, with all the wonderful knowledge the guys at invelos have and the wonderful work that the phpdvdprofiler guys do, why not fuse the two together and offer a service (free of charge (yeah right! lol - probably subscription based or a one off fee)) to us members where we can choose to have the standard online profile or a professional phpdvdprofile. IMO it would be best if we could all log in to individual member accounts and simply upload our xml to our accounts, everybody's seperate collections could technically run from the same database (the invelos db for example).

I know there could be problems with headshots and no doubt other info that many people like to store on their phpdvdprofiles but surely these could all be ironed out.

The reason for such a suggestion, simply because many of us cannot afford the hosting, many people don't know how to install phpdvdprofile, and sometimes (in my case) even when you find a decent host, they don't offer everything you need (or would like to have) in order to get the full working version of phpdvdprofiler.

If executed correctly, this could work out great and many people would love it. I know I'd sign up!

Like I said though, there are probably many technical or copyright difficulties that would arise from such an idea to come to light.

Cheers
Jonathan

What's that about then? I'm intrigued! lol

Also, just realised, instead of logging into an online account, it'd be better if DVD Profiler did it for you like what it does for uploading/downloading to the existing online collection.

New online services have been talked about that would include a shiny new online collection. It'd be an extension of the existing My Profiler area of the site, and has been dubbed MyProfiler+ (I don't remember if by Ken or by us mere mortals)
It's probably going to be a payed service, but I don't think anyone will be able to tell you more than this as it's still within the gods' secrecy.
I believe that as soon as Ken has the time to develop (at least part of) it, he'll tell us something.
Most likely on a monday...
