| Posted: | | | | Need some advise on what audio to put for a HD DVD, PowerDVD is reporting the audio as this
Audio Attributes: Audio Coding mode: DDPlus Sampling Rate: 48kHz Number of Audio channels: 5.1 Bitrate: 1536 Kbps Do i put it as DD 5.1 or ignore the 5.1 and put it as DD Plus
and do i do the same with the commentary track Audio Attributes: Audio Coding mode: DDPlus Sampling Rate: 48kHz Number of Audio channels: 2.0 Bitrate: 192 Kbps DD Stereo or ignore the 2.0 and put it as DD Plus |

| Posted: | | | | I will only offer this to you, ninehours. DD2 channel, could be either Stereo or Mono, there could even be a Surround Flag that your powerDVD is not catching (depending on version0 The best way to determine Stereo vis 2Channel Mono is via graphical analysis of the Audio data (oscilloscope style), if the two channels are the same then you have Mono, if they are not then it is Stereo.

The new HD codecs DDPlus, DD TrueHD, DTS HD only give you one choice, there is no channel info like there is for standard DD (DD Mono, Stereo, 5.0, 5.1, EX....) I expect the drop-down would be off the screen if all the options were included for each. I think it would have to split into two feilds, one for codec and one for channels but we will have to wait until monday for that
So he has the choice of DDPlus or DD 5.1.
DDPlus is backward compatible with DD5.1 but at a bit rate of 1536 it should be much higher quality then a typical DD5.1 track. I'd put DDPlus for the main audio.
The commentary is only 192 kbps, about typical for DD so it's not using any of the Plus extensions so I would think DD 2.0 would give the best idea of what is on the disc. | | | Tom. |
