| Posted: | | | | Okay, apologies in advance if I've got any of this wrong. I've just posted a new profile for an unlisted DVD, being the Australian special edition of A Clockwork Orange. Scans and general info have been included, but no cast or crew info as yet. I hope this "partial profile" is okay, I haven't seen anything in the forums to say otherwise, but if only profiles with full cast and crew etc are acceptable then I will need to update it or withdraw it. Of course cast and crew will be the same as for other versions of Clockwork Orange already on DVD Profiler , but I am unclear on the etiquette involved in using details already posted by other members.
I'd be pleased to receive any direction on these issues.

| Posted: | | | | Partial profiles are okay as long as the info in them is correct and documented (just like any other profile contribution). It's also okay to contribute based on previously accepted profiles, as long as you document which profile you got the information from (including the UPC#). As always, it's generally a good idea to look over the data, even if it's coming from a previously accepted contribution, since just because it's in the database doesn't mean it's correct. We like to pride ourselves on having exceptionally correct data, but that's not always the case. Double check the cast/crew and everything else with the DVD in question just to be on the safe side. | | | "Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men" - Douglas Bader "A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools." - Douglas Adams | | | Last edited: by Vega |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks for that advice. Quick follow up if I may - how do I edit the contribution I've just made. I can see an error I made in putting region info in the production field, and would like to amend - does this require a replacement contribution from my DVD profiler to overwrite the first one, or can the contribution be edited using the site database somehow? It doesn't seem that the links on My Profiler online allow me back in to edit the contribution I've just made. |

| Posted: | | | | Easy -- sort of... Withdraw your previous contribution. That way, it will not get to the screeners. Then recontribute the corrected data as a new contribution. Good luck (and good work). | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

I just did a quick update of the profile to include most of the missing information. (Merry Christmas). In order for you to be able to see the contribution and vote on future contributions you will need to upload your collection to the online database. Online ->DVD Profiler Online -> Next ->Upload -> Done. Enjoy! |

Yes I've withdrawn my own partial update. Next time I will wait until I've done the full details for a dvd before posting, I was perhaps just a bit keen to make some contribution, having become a Profiler convert just in the last few weeks and then encountered my first non-listed UPC with a xmas present. Cheers! |

Cheers! No problem. If you encounter a DVD that is not in the database in the future, you might want to look at using another profile that is already existing in the database as a basis for a new contribution. Just search by title across all regions and dowload the most complete one. You can use the Change UPC and Change Locality options from the DVD Menu in Profiler to create the new profile. Check and make any necessary changes for SRP, Video Format, Overview etc then submit citing the profile that you based it on as the basis for your submission. |

| Posted: | | | | Oh yeah, hadn't really thought about the change UPC option to get existing cast, etc. That would have made life much easier! The learning process continues. |

| Posted: | | | | Just be sure to check against the actual film, I just did one lastnight that had been done recently using an existing Profile and guess what...whatever Profile was used was not correct and I had to redo the entire Profile.
