| Posted: | | | | I recently took the time to upgrade from v2 to v3 and my disc location and disc slot are not showing. This is very important to me as I use a DVD Jukebox and need the slot number to located my discs.

| Posted: | | | | Thanks Giga, sorry I should have been more clear. The location information does not appear to have been included when I upgraded. I had all of the info available in v2, did the save and then restore and my discs are all there but the slot number and player are not. |

I'm not sure why the data should be missing - it wasn't when I upgraded. Are you also using the latest version 3.1.1 ? | | | Paul | | | Last edited: by pauls42 |

| Posted: | | | | Is all location data missing, or just some of them. If it's only some of them, then please check the format of the UPC, because 3.X uses all digits of the UPC not like 2.x where the first was left out. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | How didi you import your database into 3.x? From your online collection, from a backup of your old 2.x database, or did you let the import happen while updating? | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | Did you try a databaserepair? Have you had a second try in importing the backupfile? Sorry if my questions seem a bit incoordinate but you just kicked out my two best solutions | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! | Posted: | | | | I tried both with no success. I did a backup and restore, is there a different method such as export and import that might work?

| Posted: | | | | Another seemingly dense question: specifically which version of v2 are you migrating from, and do you have the most current v3? (3.11)
I recall one of the initial 3.0 builds had this bug, but thought it had long since been dealt with. |

Mike Not that I'm aware of it, sorry. AFAIK you only have two options left 1. Reenter the missing data manually (means constant switching between 2.4 and 3.11) which is probably a hell of a job. 2. PM your problem to Ken, maybe he knows something that we don't think of. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | Huh... Fired up my old 2.4 install [yeah, y'all can quit laughing... I know I'm a software packrat! ](it's build 871, but IIRC that was only a patch to address a startup issue in some circumstances, and no data handling was changed), made a backup, then imported to the current 3.11 build - all slot/loc elements were intact, even for profiles with unconverted & bad UPC/EANs. Same with 2.5 backup as source. A few thoughts; - Try running the database repair utility in 2.4 before making your migration backup, maybe something's munged on that end and interfering. - Install 2.5 (to a different location), convert your data to 2.5 (from the 2.4 backup file - checking that loc/slot made it that far), then try using a backup from that to migrate. - As a last resort, could post a link to your backup file here, and one of us could convert it to 3.11 for you... (or at least verify that there's something really strange going on that Ken would have to address.) We're all talking about the same thing here, right? This is the Location / Slot data under the Personalize settings? And discs that you've verified have this data in your 2.4 don't have it in 3.11 - even when directly viewing the Personalization screen? (Control - P) Just checking in case maybe this is a display issue, and not actually lost data... |

Mike there is no IMport within DVD Profiler - you did it correctly when you used backup/restore. I had location slot information which carried over ok so it should have worked for you. The only suggestion I can think of is to do a new Backup from the version 2.4 - don't use the same name as the previous one you created. Then try re-restoring in case the backup was old and didn't have this location info. | | | Paul |
