| Posted: | | | | have you tried running the repair tool? Not sure what if anything it will do but it couldn't hurt. Go to your Start Menu > All Programs > DVD Profiler > Database Repair Utility Unlike previous versions the repair can be run without opening the program. If that doesn't work, hang in there. Someone will come up with something else to try I'm sure |

I'm sure I could fix it by uninstall/reinstall, but I haven't backed up my database in about a month and I don't wanna put all those movies back in, lol. | | | "Someone once told me that time was a predator that stalked us all our lives, but I'd rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey, reminds us to cherish every moment...'cause they'll never come again. | Posted: | | | | Yeah, Yeah. Worst part is I thought to myself the other day that I really needed to back it up but I never got around to it. | | | "Someone once told me that time was a predator that stalked us all our lives, but I'd rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey, reminds us to cherish every moment...'cause they'll never come again. | Posted: | | | | I had a dxDock error before, but I don't remember how I fixed it. Probably uninstalling DVD Profiler, rebooting and then reinstalling.
Since it sounds like you don't have a backup, you might want to make sure the DVD Profiler folder within your My Documents doesn't get deleted (or simply make of copy of it somewhere else, has it should, unless you specifically changed it, contain your Db). | | | Last edited: by RossRoy |

| Posted: | | | | The error messages make me think it may be an issue with your Layout. Do you use the default layout or one you downloaded and/or modified yourself? If you do use a different layout and you're down to your last straws, then this may be worth a shot. 1. Open up your registry by clicking on Start -> Run and typing in "Regedit" and click OK. 2. Open up the tree for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ and find the "Invelos Software" folder. 3. Right click on the "Invelos Software" folder and select "Export" and give the file any name you want and save it somewhere like your My Documents or on your Desktop. (This is just making a backup incase something goes wrong. Once this is done, if you mess up anything beyond this point you'll be able to restore your Invelos registry keys to the exact values they were before you started by simply double clicking on this file and clicking "Yes" when it asks if you want to add it to your registry). 4. Now, open up the "Invelos Software" key and click on "DVD Profiler" 5. Find the entry for "LayoutFileName" and see what it says. It should say something like "C:\Documents and Settings\Althalus\My Documents\DVD Profiler\Layouts\NAME_OF_LAYOUT.dpl". Is the layout filename here "Invelos Default.dpl"? 6a. If it is set for something else, try reverting it back to the default Layout by changing the end of it to be "Invelos Default.dpl" and then close the Registry Editor and see if DVDP will open now. 6b. If it was already set for "Invelos Default.dpl" and that may be corrupt, then try setting it for "Invelos DVD Profiler Classic.dpl" instead. Close the Registry Editor and see if DVDP will open now. This is more just a test to see if it is a layout issue. If this doesn't work, the other thing you can try is going back into the Registry Editor as above and under the "DVD Profiler" key you'll see a bunch of other keys listed like "CIWin", "DAWin", "DEWin", etc. Each one of those are just remembered window states so your stuff opens in the same place it was when you closed it. Perhaps the window state for your Collection List or the Filter window is corrupt, so you could try deleting all the "XXwin" keys since they will be automatically created again by DVDP when you open it. Since you made the backup back in Step 3 (you did that, right? ) you can't hurt anything since at any time you can simply double click on that file and it will put all the settings back the way they were. | | | "Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men" - Douglas Bader "A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools." - Douglas Adams |

| Posted: | | | | Well, I went and uninstalled it (making a backup of the files in mydoc) but it asked if I wanted to erase all my database stuff anyway and now it works fine with a fresh install.
I was using the wide screen layout, I dunno why all of a sudden it freaked out... | | | "Someone once told me that time was a predator that stalked us all our lives, but I'd rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey, reminds us to cherish every moment...'cause they'll never come again. Sometimes I forget not everyone wants to know what went wrong, they just want it fixed. The techie in me was curious about the cause of your issue so my post above may have been over kill when just a reinstall would take care of the problem. In any event, glad you got things worked out. | | | "Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men" - Douglas Bader "A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools." - Douglas Adams |
