I Get a lot of comments about child profile in my contributions ( cast and crew belong on the child profiles)
now my question is what is a child profile

A child profile is a sub-profile that you generally only see with Box Sets and TV show profiles.  In the case of Box Sets, the main profile is called the "Parent" profile and contains basic information about the movies contained in the Box Set.  Then individual "Child" profiles are done for each of the individual movies.  Since many times the individual movies in a Box Set do not have UPC/EAN codes the "Child" profiles are entered into the database by the DiscID of the DVD.

If your computer has a DVD drive you can easily add these child profiles by going into add a DVD to your collection like normal, but instead of typing in a UPC/EAN you select the tab to Add by DiscID.  Then insert the movie into your DVD drive and the program will automatically detect the DiscID and select the child profile associated with that DiscID.  So if you had, say the Godfather Collection, you can add each individual movie from that Box Set by inserting each movie and adding the child profiles.  You then open up the original Parent profile for editing and go down to the Box Set section and you can add your newly downloaded child profiles to the main parent profile.  This will put then under the Parent profile so in your collection list the Godfather Collection now has a + symbol (if you're in Detail view) and when you click on it, it will open up and display the children under it.

If you don't have a DVD drive in your computer you can still add them, but you have to add them By Title which can be a little trickier to figure which ones in the list go with your particular Box Set.  If you have a specific Box Set you're trying to do this then I'm sure we can help if you post the name and region of the Box Set in question.

het zou gemakelijker zijn als je me zegt wat er niet in mag staan
