| Posted: | | | | While adding pictures to cast i noticed that Josh Hartnett is spelled Harnett in the sin city recut & extended edition. I also noticed Robert downey jr has a comma at the end of his name in a scanner darkly. Little things i know but kind of annoying when you want all the actors movies to link up in the database. I'm kinda new to this so whats the best way to go about fixing these errors?
Thanks |

| Posted: | | | | Names entered should match what you see on screen, even if it is incorrectly spelled. This used to be a problem with linking, it is no longer. There is a feature you should look at called "credited as". This is where you would enter a name as credited while keeping the proper name for linking purposes. Just what the proper name is is a completely different subject. A good place to start with that in the "credit lookup" tool found here in the forum (under the database tab above) You may want to review the contribution rules (also found under the database tab) to help you get familiar. | Posted: | | | | Thanks for your reply, I'll check out those freatures. credit lookup says harnett but I think in this case its an error by the person who contributed it. I've checked imdb.com as well as directly looking at the credits after the movie and they both spell it hartnett which is the proper spelling. but in dvd profiler its harnett, which is wrong. same goes for the other one.
I guess in this case you wouldn't use the credited as feature you have to submit it to get the error fixed? |

| Posted: | | | | Just don't forget, when contributing, to mention that your source so people know that this is a valid change and not just a personal preference. In this case, the source is the film's credits, which is the best, and usually the only source that's usable when submitting. Good luck! | | | Lori |

I guess in this case you wouldn't use the credited as feature you have to submit it to get the error fixed? I think I, and Rick, misunderstood your question. I thought you were saying it was spelled wrong in the credits. If it is spelled correctly in the film credits, but spelled wrong in the profile, then you can simply correct it in the profile. Rick's suggestion would only come in to play if it were spelled wron in the actual credits. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | Open the profile to edit, go to the Cast list and select Josh's incorrect entry in the right pane. Then search for the correct entry in the left pane and highlight it.
Click the Replace button in the center column between the panes and the bad name should be replaced by the good. | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |
