Question about Disc ID |

| Posted: | | | | I am just curious why we see contributions where the DISC ID changes. Example below: I am also wondering why the existing has ROSE_RED_DISC_1 and ROSE_RED_DISC_2 ... but the new one only has ROSE for the 2nd disc. I am not sure how to vote on this and am asking this so I can understand why these change. I would think they should all be the same (meaning if I put my disc in I should be seeing the same ID number as the contributor is). | Posted: | | | | As I understand it disc IDs can change with different releases of the same film using the same UPC. Ken has said (back at IVS) we are to submit any variant disc IDs so he can capture them as part of the master online profile. That way, if someone tries to add the disc to their collection, no matter what ID they have it will bring up the correct profile.
As long as the submitter is submitting the disc ID under the correct UPC then you should vote YES. |

As long as the submitter is submitting the disc ID under the correct UPC then you should vote YES. Only if it is part of a wider contribution. Contribution of Disc IDs alone are not permitted according to the rules. | Posted: | | | | OK ... that answers my question about why different ID's ...
What about the way it is entered in the squares under INFO ... does that not make any difference how that is entered? | | | Antec Nine Hundred case, 4GB A-Data DDR2 800 RAM, Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz, ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP MB, XFX GeForce 8600GT XXX 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 video card, ZALMAN CNPS9500 AT 2 Ball CPU Cooling Fan/Heatsink, Seagate Barracuda 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s HDD, Zerodba 620W PSU, LITE-ON 20X DVD±R DVD with LightScribe SATA, Samsung CDDVDW SH-S203B SATA, Hanns-G HH281 28" monitor, Kodak ESP3250 printer, Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers, Windows 7 Professional |

| Posted: | | | | Don't mean to threadjack my own post ... but wondering about this also. Is there a reason this would be listed twice? I know they say above that there are 2 commentaries ... but why would it not just get listed twice if they were different formats? | | | Antec Nine Hundred case, 4GB A-Data DDR2 800 RAM, Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz, ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP MB, XFX GeForce 8600GT XXX 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 video card, ZALMAN CNPS9500 AT 2 Ball CPU Cooling Fan/Heatsink, Seagate Barracuda 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s HDD, Zerodba 620W PSU, LITE-ON 20X DVD±R DVD with LightScribe SATA, Samsung CDDVDW SH-S203B SATA, Hanns-G HH281 28" monitor, Kodak ESP3250 printer, Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers, Windows 7 Professional |

All audio tracks get listed. If there are two commentary tracks, even though they are the same format, each still gets listed seperately. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

| Posted: | | | | They get listed twice even if they are the same (which would nearly always be the case), simply because there's two of them on the same feature; that way the audio tracks section accurately reflect the number for that disc. Although if you're doing a TV set for example with commentaries on multiple episodes, you'd only enter as many commentary tracks as you would find on a single episode on that disc. If you had one episode with 2 commentaries and one episode with only 1, you'd only put two entries in the audio section, not three. Of course that doesn't apply to movie discs. Thank you Nadja ... now I am even more confused ... but at least I can vote on the one in question for now. | | | Antec Nine Hundred case, 4GB A-Data DDR2 800 RAM, Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz, ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP MB, XFX GeForce 8600GT XXX 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 video card, ZALMAN CNPS9500 AT 2 Ball CPU Cooling Fan/Heatsink, Seagate Barracuda 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s HDD, Zerodba 620W PSU, LITE-ON 20X DVD±R DVD with LightScribe SATA, Samsung CDDVDW SH-S203B SATA, Hanns-G HH281 28" monitor, Kodak ESP3250 printer, Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers, Windows 7 Professional |

For the record this was NOT just a disc id change .... I'm aware of that. I was only clarifying Rick's comment regarding their submission . | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

Though to hijack the hijacked thread, I feel that if I tried to lighten it any farther than I had done, I would be getting a lot of no-votes for being too light. My blacks aren't quite black as it is. |

| Posted: | | | | Somewhat related question as far as disc id's go. Is it ok to submit a profile that is just a disc id for a profile that doesn't currently have a disc id?

-Agrare Yes. This is not a problem. I started out doing that, but now find myself going back and doing full audits for some of the titles I only submitted disc info for before. Not to say disc ID's aren't important, cuz they are, but try to check out the disc a bit while it's in the drive anyway. Wish I would've before, but I was new and just trying to help with whatever, Now that I've been here a while, even doing a cover scan leads me to double-check all the disc info. This also depends on who's subs have been approved previously, as some contributors are on my "I know they're submitting nothing but truth" list which gets them "yes" votes at a glance and saves time not re-checking when submitting covers. I've re-checked some from them, and now feel no need to check anything else after finding nothing wrong. | | | Last edited: by bigdaddyhorse |
