| | Posted: | | | | I'd really rather this directory be in the DVD Profiler program folder. It doesn't really make much sense to allow the user to specify the install location, then put a ton of program files in a completely different location.
I already figured out that I can move the Databases folder, but the program seems hard coded to look in My Documents\DVD Profiler for Filters, Flags, Layouts, Reports, and translations. Unless there's some trick I don't know about.

It has always been Microsoft's policy that user data (and skins and reports are user data) do not belong in the program folder (at least on the Windows NT product line)
Unfortunately they never enforced this - until Windows Vista.
All these files in your user folder are editable by you and are technically not necessary (a always forget how to spell this word!) to run the program. | | | Karsten

What if I want to run DVDP from a USB stick, id est as a portable application? I understand that is not possible any more now. ?? It is one of the most anoying features of the product. I have run it on a couple of different corporate notebooks from different organisations and run into trouble. Most corporates use folder redirection on the my documents folder and the files fill up my roaming profile exceeding space allocations. It would be nice if Ken changed this or at least published a reg hack. |
