| Posted: | | | | I was just watching Deep Impact (097363308270 US) and at the school assembly I noticed what I thought was a familiar face asking a question. Anyway, I scanned the cast list for 'Jason Thurman' as he is clearly referred to in the movie.
Anyway, while scrolling down the list, I couldn't find that name, but did recognise the actor name. Turned out to be Jason Dohring (from Veronica Mars). Anyway, in the profile he's listed as 'Harold'. So, I waited until the end of the movie and amazingly, the credits are actually wrong, as they list him as 'Harold'.
So, the only time he's in the movie, he's introduced as 'Jason Thurman', but the credits list him as 'Harold'.
Obviously the rules say "what's in the credits", which is fair enough. But the credits are wrong. So, do we want bad data or good data? | | | Home of the phpDVDProfiler forums |

| Posted: | | | | If I'm reading you right, and they've got the actor's name right but the character's role wrong, then I'd say we have to live with it, Of course you're welcome to have the right role name in your local database, but the online database has to reflect the end credits, right or wrong. |

| Posted: | | | | Shame, at least with the actor's name we have "credited as" to reflect any mistakes in the actual end credits, but we're stuck with role names. You could try submitting with the actual name in brackets after the quoted role name (example: "Harold (actually Jason Thurman)" - but I'm not sure how popular that would be. I personally would vote neutral if I saw a submission like that, but others may be more strict. |

There's no bad or good, only what's on the screen. That's what gets entered. Period. | | | 99.9% of all cat plans consist only of "Step 1." |

How do all of you do in real life when there is an obvious error ? As I always said rules are good as long as exceptions are authorized. After that they become stupid. As I always said rules are good as long as exceptions are authorized. They are authorized. Here is the step you need to follow to authorize the change: 1) Change your date to your liking, anything is allowed. 2) Lock the data so it won't be overwritten. 3) Do not contribute the data. It's easy, it's supported - what can possible be the problem? Quote:

Correct. What you fail to realize is that we do not agree on what is stupid. You keep going on as if we could agree on what is a valid exception to the rule. Giving all the discussions going on here I must say I find it amazing you beleive we could agree. Quote:
Remember that firemen are authorized to drive fast... Not because they are an exception to the rules, but because the rules allows them to. Some volunteer firefighters found out the hard way in Denmark some time ago - they tried to avoid paying speeding tickets they got responding to a fire using their private cars. Basically the judge told them that yes, they (as anyone else) where allowed to exceed the speed limit in order to save life, and yes - it also applied to firefighters responding to a fire where life could potentially be at risk. However when you do it in an unmarked car you have to follow certain procedures (I think it involves notifying the police afterwards) which they had not done - and hence they had to pay the tickets. So no, firefigters are not an exception to the rule, it's something the rules took into consideration - like for example the DVD Profiler capitalization rule allowing you to change to title case in case the title is written all uppercase. | | | Regards Lars |

Obviously the rules say "what's in the credits", which is fair enough. But the credits are wrong. So, do we want bad data or good data? You have to leave the credit as is - do not disturb the wolfes BUT to get him in the credits we are alowed to credit him as uncredited... you could as I see easily document your entry for: Jason Dohring as Jason Thurman(uncredited) no rules broken as I see it... | | | We are all at the same age, only at different time... |
